Do you put liquid gasket in-between the two metal head gaskets? Some folk use liquid gasket on the A8 slush-box because the tranny blows...and liquid gasket seems to fix it.

I will keep this in mind as I'll be rebuilding an AAN engine soon.

I took the shiney metal layer and the thick part and put that in the middle of the second headgasket.

It is working - but I will get a custom headgasket later this year.

nice...it might be wise to take orders when you are ready to have the custom one made and have a batch made.

In the U.S. I understand copper 20vt head gaskets are available from http://www.headgasket.com . Javad had sent them a gasket to use as a template.

good info...i didn't know that. do you think he ordered one that would be as thick as two gaskets for lowered compression?

I wouldn't want to speculate, but I believe they are available in differnet thicknesses if desired. The key is that they have the pattern. Actually on their site I saw "torque plate" mentioned, but I didn't read further. Makes sense that they could make one if they have a pattern for the car. That would be cool to have a torque plate available in the states for 5 cylinder engine work.

I suppose anything is possible. What tools do you have available? A water jet cutter type tool would seem to be ideal.

There is some special stuff to consider/do as far as making sure the copper has been annealed and is soft enough to do its job. They are supposed to be reusable, with the use of a sealing spray and possibly doing something like annealing it again if used too many times. Based on what I remember reading about, which isn't much!

Here's the thread from Motorgeek (search terms highlighted):

Hey guys, just thought I'd update the forum about my 20v project since I'm getting a lot of q's about it. Here is the parts list: -7A, 2.3 block bored to 83mm -.070 Copper head gasket, block 0-ringed with reciever groove in cylinder head (now custom MLS/Copper 034 gasket) -034EFI 144mm rods...

Javad's gasket is .070" thick, so maybe that will help answer the question?

About $150 is what Javad wrote in the thread.

Can someone make a Non-Interference Engine but with 8.6:1 CR ? I think the 8:1 is very low!

Maybe stock head gasket and skimmed pistons + some more of the valve pockets? Can someone calculate this! I mean maybe Stock HG almost no Dish and deeper than 1 mm pockets! Is something like this safe? I mean the deeper pockets!

I used to drive a car with a CR of 7.9:1. Funnily enough, **** off boost, good on boost.
I'm not sure about deeper pockets. Could be trickiy to machine, and the piston crown could be too thin.

Thats is why i am asking? Maybe someone tried this!

with 2 RS2 gaskets you take 8:1 ? I had also a Celica GT-4 with 8:1 and was also crap off boost!

I wouldnt take the valve pockets on stock pistons any lower. The crown isnt all that thick. the thickness of the dish part is only 8mm IIRC. And the pockets are about 2mm deep??
