I'm looking to replace all fuel lines on my ur quattro. And looking for alternative to oem as they n/a and come across of plastic/nylon fuel lines. Question is: are they safe to use it? And where, which ones to buy it. Thank for advice!

If its the hardlines under the car I would use the cupro nickel/cunifer stuff. Easy to shape by hand, does not rust, and does not break the bank either. Cost me less than £50 to do the full lines on my s2 including fittings and have spare.

I have used all the versions now and my preference for future installs is to use PTFE lined braided hoseComment

Nylon fuel lines
The only problem with using non-metal fuel lines is in the event of a crash.
With metal lines if a line gets fractured in the engine bay after a collision much less fuel will be spilled (once the pump cuts out).
With plastic, if there is a fire in the engine bay the nylon hoses will melt and a lot of extra fuel will be introduced. If the line burns down to fuel tank level the fuel will flow from the tank towards the engine bay and result is catastrophe. Food for thought.Comment

I have read that when using braided lines you should get them with a cover over the stainless braid as grit can get into the weave and wear through the PTFE inside. I cannot back this up though as i dont remember where i read it. I think it was in an argument as to why HEL hoses are really good with the cover over them.Comment

On the rally cars that I have been involved in preparing over the years we use cupro nickel tubing fitted with small fire traps at the engine bay and at the fuel tank. IF there's a fire at either end it minimises it travelling. Most importantly to give us time to get out of the car, but also to try to save the car. This was brought on when our esteemed leaders in Motorsport Ireland decided that we must only use AFFF in our fire extinguishers. This stuff is not good at putting out fires, so we took further measures for protection.Comment
