Me. I can honestly say I have never ever had trigger errors, software issues when upgrading and stuff like that.... My IAC works as well, so my idle does not suffer.
Had my unit for 3 years now, though my car is not a daily driver mind you.

Most people in here using vems are daily drivers. Mine is about 3 years with vems and after a few hiccups at the beggining now every upgrade is quick and easy. However if everything is running ok I don't upgrade anyway. Consumption wise as well I'm getting what motronic is giving for stock rs2

I cant fault the Motec on mine, it has run without issues. Like I said earlier though its down to the guy setting it up and tuning it and Dave Rowe is superb at that!

I installed it on mine in 2008. Heavily daily driver back then....now not so ofter (I use a bike). No issues with triggers whatsoever with stock RS2 flywheel. The issues came with the stroker block (had to machine the sensor mount since it was not there) and 7a flywheel. Since I trimmer the bracker and welded a thick pin no issues. New firmware supports in theory even 14800 RPM with a clean signal on the 5 cyl.

However I think he got enough info on that matter!

Trigger errors maybe solvable without going 60-2 although i have to say i would be much happier running that than auditrigger.
There is also a signal filtering board that megasquirt now uses to clear up noisy VR signals and seeing as vems and MS areso closely related with similar issues I don't see why it shouldn't work. Something I have lined up to try when I can be bothered.

what are the benefits of a tatech or autronic over a lesser ecu? is it purely because the well know tuners endorse them more?

Working knock control... maybe a bit better user interface (although I am not so sure about Tatech's interface - those who have tuned it know what I mean ) and more reliable trigger pickup.

never used anything other than ms or vems but have a vague memory of someone mentioning tatech having tables inside tables which sounds nuts. is it more precise somehow if you can find an einstein to tune it?

It was a little weird to be honest, but I managed.
It did have good knock control though, and it actually worked.

what makes you think VEMS doesnt have that? it does!

I use Link on mine with 2 connectors so that I can run the old ecu also (I use the Link in another car too). It runs, idles, starts etc etc so much better than the Motronic....

The way i saw it, I bought it, had it installed and had a 'before' dyno run and then a full mapping session for the price of 3 remaps with MRC.

Even a heathen like me can play with it. Installed launch control and anti lag for fun! Excuse the swearing!

Just means Motronic wasn't tuned right, that's all.
Any properly tuned ECU will run better than another ECU that is not tuned correctly.

There is nothing your ECU is doing "better" than Motronic, because it is a jack of all trades and master of none.

I've tuned a few standalones on I5 now, and the stock system is MUCH better because it was specifically made for this car. Of course if you don't know how to tune it, it's useless to you.
But it is faster and more precise than almost any standalone on the market on this engine. It has three times the processing power of VEMS for example.
We all know what you think Tell me have you ever tuned Vipec or Link? What Motronic has more than them ? Processing power ?!?!? maybe you have to check the specs:

Vi-PEC fuel injection and engine management systems were developed to fill a gap in the market for ECUs that were reliable, powerful, easy to tune and having f…

I agree Motronic is made for this engine but for 230hp when you start to push it over it starts to push you back one of the reason why most of the guys here moved to Vems. High end stand alone ECUs are made to work with them easy as possible and produce power safer and efficient as possible.

You're specialized and favor Motronics thats fine even admirable because it's hard job to do, however please don't compare 25 years old technology with something from recent days. It's like to compare analog phones and smart phones, both are phones and do same job but what you use ?

Precision is matter of tune and configuration and those ecus gave you so much more layers for precise tuning and extra features which makes engine better and safer to run. Not on last place live tune, making changes at any time, better troubleshooting, literally you can tune on the road road.....

Dowside they don't offer plug and play settup for our old car, but they come with wireing and you have adapt it for your car.
