There are no problem running any power output with Motronic.
The only limit is knowledge of the ECU.
High end stand alone ECUs are made to work with them easy as possible and produce power safer and efficient as possible.
Safer and more efficient without knock control? Again, you are wrong here.

however please don't compare 25 years old technology with something from recent days.
I will always do that, because Bosch has been 20 years ahead of it's time.
Motronic 2.3.2 is better than most standalones in 2010, and it was developed in 1990.
Motronic 7 is still better than ANY other ecu apart from newer Bosch ones and it was developed in 1997. Nothing comes even close in the world. And we are in 2013, so 16 years later.

Precision is matter of tune and configuration and those ecus gave you so much more layers for precise tuning
Again you are wrong. In fact Motronic has about ten times the possibilities of any standalone ECU for fuel and spark tuning. And ME7 100 times more possibilities.
and extra features which makes engine better and safer to run.
And again you are wrong. Completely wrong.
Not on last place live tune, making changes at any time, better troubleshooting, literally you can tune on the road road.....
I can live tune the car on the road and I have full data logging from the ECU.
Better troubleshooting? I don't think so! Motronic has full self diagnosis, your ECU does not have a fault code system.

As for processing power - M2.3.2 has four processors. Maybe something to think about.

Basically - you have no idea what you are talking about.
You don't know how an ECU works inside. All your cr*p about "more precise, better" is just marketing.
If you knew how ANY ECU works inside, you would realize how ridiculous your claims are.

Btw, I have tuned your precious ViPeC.
It's about 10 times more primitive than M2.3.2.

Really? Well I have WBO2 and EGT on Motronic.
            But no need for it.

Same as I have flat shift, ALS, LC on Motronic.
Oh and my fueling, injector model and knock control are 10 times more sophisticated than your ViPeC ECU.
How do I know that? I tuned all of this on ViPeC.

Also curious, how well will your ViPeC run if you unplug the MAP sensor? My experience shows it's going somewhere only on a trailer after that.

Point being - the reason to go standalone is not because it is somehow "better", because it isn't.
No standalone in the world has had even close the development effort put in compared to a Bosch ECU. Not even a fraction of the unlimited Bosch budget and the brightest engineering in the world.

The reason to go standalone is because there are very few people in the world who truly understand Motronic, or because you want to tune your car yourself.
But no ECU is ever going to be anywhere close to being as good as the original factory control unit when properly tuned, because it was built specifically for this engine.

How good the ECU is not about how many "bits" it has or "mhz". It's only as good as the engineering behind it. Having more "bits" or "mhz" is not going to make an ECU somehow better, when the algorithms it uses were developed in the 1970's and unchanged ever since. All of the standalone ECU's use those.

The next generation is the torque model and fly-by-wire throttle introduced in ME7.
There is not a single standalone ECU in the world with a torque model apart from Bosch MS.

That might be it, motronic is just to complicated to get involved in, if you want to do something yourself, unless of course you want to dedicate allot of time and money. That may be why people chose a more accessible solution, with a more open source knowledge. A pity really..

I agree 100%. It's way too complicated to getting involved yourself, unless you plan to tune many cars with it in the future.
And what's worse, most of the so called "Motronic tuners" really have no clue what they are doing and how the thing works.

I have always said - if you want to tune your car yourself, go standalone. So you learn to tune your engine, and not fight the ECU...
If you have someone in the area who is good at tuning, and he is familiar with some particular ECU - go with that ECU.
As said before - your map is only going to be as good as the person mapping it. The ECU choice makes little difference. Even without knock control a VEMS ECU will run 10 times better if mapped by a good person, than a Motec or Motronic where someone just mashed the ++ button a couple times ...

Yes. It uses all of the standard audi inputs and sensors (including knock sensors) but dispenses with the MAF. Setting the levels is quite tricky though as my engine is naturally quite 'noisy' and it van mistake thus noise for knock.

I have the same experience with ViPeC. I had a hell of a time calibrating the knock control to work right, as it very often mistook the noise of the engine for knock.
The old motronic has much better filtering, amplification and sampling for knock, I've had a lot more luck with it.

As for MAF - still testing, but I have written a speed density algorithm for Motronic now, so can be used speed-density as well.
Speed density is not always good though - you need to remap for every little difference in engine VE with it, and it's less precise.

Factory tune has emissions first as well - so there are always compromises there.

Why no need of it point is to make it safer right.... Howmuch mods are necessary to have all this in motronic....Or you can have 1 ecu with all this incide! Also can you conrol gearbox or Haldex like you do with Link.

Plus motronic is very restrictive to the type of harware you use while with Link you can use and swap what ever you want and still make it working.

                              ye ye what if.......

what if 25 years old map sensor, circuits and resistors fails in motronic? I personaly have seen how 2 motronics on 2 different cars just pop off without any reason.

how many MAFs and knock sensors you have to swap if you run motronic....

As i said you can do the job with Motronic as well it's matter of choise and I have made mine. I really don't intend to spend more time in arguing.....

No mods, only software. It has free inputs. You are not doing it, so who cares what needs to be done? EGT feedback does not make anything really "safer", WBO2 is pointless when you are open loop after 120kpa.

                                Restrictive how? Elaborate?
Why is Motronic somehow restrictive on hardware? I've mapped it with pretty much any setup now.
