    Help With Leak

Right here we go took off the Isv on Sunday cleaned with carb cleaner then some Gt85 put it back on today and started the car. I can now here a hissing from the area of the Isv so i sprayed with soapy water but could see no bubbles showing a leak form the Isv connections. I have not heard this hissing sound before but i have been having running issues with the car of late, hence the cleaning of the Isv. I have borrowed a boost leak test kit from Andy ( Rusty ) but not had chance yet to use it question is when i do the test does the car need to be running? and what are the most likely hoses around the area of the Isv to leak as i have sprayed them all and can't see a leak.

No, the car doesn't need to be running

Take a picture of what's leaking, use ms paint to indicate what's leaking and post that up. Easier than trying to explain IME.

Done the leak test used my spare tyre let down to 15 psi found a big leak coming from down on the left hand side think its the pipe from the Ic when i took the hose of the long pipe the hose to Ic was moving about quite a bit. Does the bumper need to come of to get to the Ic.

              I didn't see your Feb 25th post before I posted a S2 3B/ABY and RS2 ADU boost testing options post on Feb.26th: http://www.s2forum.com/forum/showthr...t+leak+testing

Subsequently, I did add this ISV photo I probably originally stole from someone here (whoever posted it, let me know and I will add a credit) (NOTE: As suggested my boost leak post, having a spray bottle loaded with very soapy water to spray onto suspect areas is useful during this test)

If you're talking left side looking in the bonnet then you have a few possible places. There's the pipe from the crossmember to the metal boost tube, if this is the oridginal "Michelin Man" pipe then it often leaks between the rolls. (on the 3B this is made from 2 pipes with a metal joiner piece)

Lower down, below the headlight is the pipe that goes from the output of the turbo to the input of the IC, this can come off or split. It also branches off to the Diverter Valve and I've seen the DV have a hole rubbed in it where it sits against the chassis leg or a metal bracket.

Yes it's low down on the left as you look at the engine and it does sound if it's coming from the pipe that comes from the plastic pipe to the ic i have an Aby it seemed loose when i attached the boost leak test bung on the hose.

If its that then it's easier to get to if you take the bumper off its only a fartty little o-ring with a push fit into the IC

Intercooler O-ring is on the right though, this noise is coming from the left (standing in front of the car looking at the engine).

On the ABY hose 15 in the diagram above connects the crossmember to the plastic boost tube directly parts (25 and 26 are 3B only)

I'm pretty sure the ABY hose is not "ribbed" either, it's longer and has about a 45 deg bend in it.
