ABY Upgrade to RS2 + Spec

Been asked to advise on this project to take stock ABY to RS2+ power, about 350 to 380HP? Car needs to boost up quickly with a nice kick in the back and look fairly stock under the bonnet.

I'm thinking along the lines of..

    RS2 or modified ABY airbox.
    RS2 injectors or?
    Wagner RS2 Evo Exhaust manifold
RS2 or 3" DP and a Milltek or similar.
    SPM or similar rods
    Turbo choice is more difficult.
RS2 Turbo? (a bit old school now)
K26/27 Hybrid? (old school but with new scool parts?)
Garret GT or GTX? But which one?

    PRJ to map

    Any thoughts or recommendations?

same budget and you will run a K26/27 sized turbo and +400hp

RS2 turbo is not fun once you tried a k26/27 for the same money

you dont really need to open the engine to run that turbo,,,unless it is damaged or worn of course

        Also consider k24 7400

        The boost profile is:
1.7 bar from 2500 to 5500 rpm, after which it tapers off to 1.3 bar at redline.
The turbo can not do more than 1.7 bar at 5500 rpm and then 1.3 bar at 7000 rpm (98% N75 duty cycle with 1.9 bar spring) and IAT's start to go up.

So it is not as strong as a RS2 turbo - that can do 1.45-1.5 bar at 7000 rpm, but it also has no lag at all. Instant 1.7 bar all the time with a 3000 rpm power band.
It makes about 540nm and 350 bhp.
Or hanks k26 with the billet wheel.

as far as turbo is considered:
Volvo k24-7400 if you want quick spool and always have torque, however it wont reach your power goals (unless you are talking CHP)
Billet RS2 turbo - this and the option below it are nice, will make the power you want, and be less "laggy" than the traditional RS2 turbo, I believe Marc @ efiexpress (one of the forum sponsors) is actually putting together an entire kit including turbo, injectors and software (motronic chips) for around 1500 USD
          Billet K26 turbo

I'd say you want k26/27 hybrid or kx500, it's going to be a very similar setup with stock layout and exhaust flange, near enough the same kind as an RS2 spec, but far higher torque/horsepower with minimal increase in spool.

Whatever route you take, it'll be a nice upgrade over stock! Biggest question is whether to open the engine up or not...

Garrett wise there is the GTX2867R which I use, and now the GTX3067R and well as traditional GT3071R.

The 2867R certainly gives a very responsive engine with minimal lag, but obviously is not up there for ultimate peak bhp.

Do I bite? nah, most likely right. I really do need more power but it is going to have to wait until I can afford to do it properly.
