Help! Tools and parts have arrived, but I no longer have a crank locking tool. Can anyone lend me one please? I am happy to pay postage and return it ASAP...
Thanks

I've got one! Think ABY and AAN are the same. 3256 iirc. Feel free to send a pm if you're still stuck.'93 S4 Avant now back on the road complete with new shiny go faster bits.Comment

Update:
If you ignore my posts regarding the problems bleeding the cooling system, this has been a success! Cambelt, tension roller, water pump were all changed without too many problems.
I should add for completeness that the 3256 tool does not fit the ABY without modification. I have covered the details of the modification here: http://www.s2forum.com/forum/showthread.php?t=5042
Basically, you need a length of M10 studding and some washer / nuts as spacers in order to bolt the locking tool to the block....
I will be providing these with the tool when I send it back so that others don't have to run down to their local B&Q
Cheers,

Blimey Steve. You're as heavy as that? Either you've put on weight since I last saw you, or I need to get down the pie shop!
By my reckoning. If you stand on the bar when it's horizontal, 655mm from the centre bolt, that should get you 450Nm.
I have to use the full metre bar with Steph, aka my special tool.SSComment

Yeah that final 180deg is a pain! I think Kit and i managed about 160-170 deg. That was with Kit bouncing up and down on his bendy 3/4" breaker bar.
TBH i think 180deg is a bit overkill. Im sure 100deg will be fine, the bolt will be stretched nicely.Black B3 1990 CQ 2.3E converted to ABY & 6spd. (301bhp) - Now Sold

This is why I rarely use a torque wrench. Tightening things by feel is a much better idea, as long as you have experience of what feels right, and what feels wrong. But I recommend getting a feel for what feels wrong on less important stuff.SSComment

Yeah, I'm 70kgs on a good day, 66 if i am feeling light!Blimey Steve. You're as heavy as that? Either you've put on weight since I last saw you, or I need to get down the pie shop!

i am happy with the torque achieved on my crank bolt.
incidentally, i am now down on Somerset and the S2 had made the trip in heavy traffic no problem. i am very happy with the car again....The Perfectionist

About the same as me then.
If you were hanging off of the end of a metre long bar, then I would make that a force of ~686Nm, depending on tide times and so on.
So I would think it's tight enough.
It's good to know it's all test driven and checked.
Incidentally I am up in Somerset too. Making use of proper internet availability.
