We have made an enhancement so that old threads should now link from search results to the correct thread. This is not yet in place for single post links
The bad news: We don't know what the issue is/was. Injector wires, plugs or bad ground. Oh well. It runs.
I'm pretty certain it was the injector plugs, as std they have a cartridge that holds the pins in place, that should look like this
Two of mine were brittle and broken and looked like this
This was allowing the pins to move around at possibly not connect to the injector correctly. The new plugs I used are a one piece design and don't have this pink insert
I'm tempted to put the other plugs back in to proove this but then again I just want to drive it now!

Andy: Was the PN of the new one-piece two-pin connector still 443906232 (Item 11 in the diagram below) or do they have a new PN for the one-piece connector?

I bet it was the earth. Then again, it could've been Tonks' oily rag. Now we'll never know for sure.
When the inner plastic broke up on my injector connector, I could tell which cylinder was not firing, as it was doing it from idle when I wiggled the cable.
I didn't get the plugs from Audi so I can't confirm the part number. I got them from ADI at Castle Combe a couple of years ago. There was a guy at the Autojumbe had a box full of them, it was the end of the day and he said for £5 I could have as many as I wanted! I knew they'd come in handy one day
