044 is horrible noisy.though I decided to upgrade to speedflow checkvalve.it's still giving a big noise. If you're running stock 044 checkvalve and your
1/2 tank remained,i believe you will be hearing the pump way louder than your horn lol.I found some local folks is running Aeromotive Stealth.
it fits the stock basket and retains stock level noise.400HP should be fine on Aeromotive. the price is also more friendly to your pocket.i remember
the new Aeromotive is the new technology so its body is still the same size as stock 091G fuel pump while the 044 the bloody Big so it needs
the modded V8 basket to fit the 044.

044 is only noisy if you don't fit it properly.
I have one in my RS4 - fitted by previous owner and it was very noisy.

Upon opening the fuel tank for inspection I discovered that the pump was thrown in there and held down by cable ties.

After fabricating a proper bracket with some insulation, it is completely silent.
The noise comes from the vibration, if you manage to bolt it down so it does not vibrate there is no noise at all.

Dimitri, My car has an 044 fitted in a 200 20v basket and I can hear it, I don't know if you could when you mapped my car.
I just thought they where noisey ,maybe I should check to see if its loose, When
          fitted it seemed ok.

The only place I can hear it is if I listen closely in the left rear wheel arch.
Inside the cabin it is completely silent now.

Before it was properly secured with anti vibration mounts, I had terrible noise inside the car, which changed pitch depending on how the petrol was positioned in the tank and how much of it there was. Drove me up the wall.

I won't disagree that the pump is prone to vibrating and thus creating noise, but I will also say that nine out of ten times people complaining about it being noisy is due to incorrect mounting...
Lou, as for your car, I don't recall anymore. But keep in mind that I am used to mapping loud high power cars, so I rarely complain about noise. A lot more noticeable in my RS4 which is quite silent though.

I really how to mount the 044 properly too.I purchased it as a kit with V8 from 034.Physically,when i had a look before put the full assembly in the tank.it seems the pump fit really tight in the V8 basket.when i first installed the 044 w/o upgrading the check valve.it's whining(noisy) as hell especialy, when it had the fuel less than 1/2 tank.i decided to upgrade the checkvalve from speedflow.i'd say the pitch noise is 50% better than stock checkvalve.it's silent when i have a full tank and starting to be noisy when it has 1/2 tank remaining and driving the car for a very long period.i can hear the pump working when i turn the ignition at"on" position.I have recored some video of the 044 sound.I'll be posting it soon.

Well, I recently opened up the tank again to check over the install.
It all seems to be exactly as set out in the how to guides on the forum.
The pump is firmly secured in the inner basket which is free to move within the outer basket via flexible mounts, all as per OEM RS2 install.

I will take a recording and post up to see if this is similar sounding to others.
For the record, I have a fairly quiet 3" exhaust system (no cats).

It kinda sounds like cavitation noises - even with a full tank. No twisted hoses that I can see.....

Interesting. Do you have the same exhaust/noise levels elsewhere?

Mine was noisy too, I'm pretty sure it was correctly fitted as i followed the guide and did it the same as everyone else using the same parts etc. Bust I guess it must have been vibrating on something if other people have had them silent. ! As long as you have a loud exhaust you will be fine though!

K-Jet pump runs out at 380hp and pressure drops like a brick.

It can do high pressure, but it's flow capacity isn't good.

No it's not a myth. BTDT on both my car and a friends car. Both did 500+ hp on single k-jet pump. Maybe it's different types of k-jet pumps, but the type that was in my -89 10v CQ and my friends -88 90Q 10v was the same size as a 044 pump and did 500hk without any problems.
