Has anyone bought any new POS units recently? I had bother with one of mine before but did the switch to spare channel trick and that solved it, It seems to have happened again though so I want to replace them with new ones.
Does anyone know where is the best place to buy them from?
Cheers.

The PN for the AAN, ABY and ADU OE Bosch POS is 4A0905351A. In jamb, you can also use a brown Hitachi or Beru from a wasted-spark ABC or AAH V6, PN 4A0905351 (no "A").

Cheers guys, I have been considering going for a coil conversion tbh. And considering the cost of the POS it is looking like the better plan all the time. The standard coil wiring must be coming close to failure by now too.

One thing that does keep puzzling me, so many threads keep saying that new Audi's are not as good or as we'll built as the early to mid 90's cars but I see so many threads pushing for the use of modern coils.
To be honest my mrs had a 1.8t and now a 2.0tfsi and both have had coil problems (as did both my B5 RS4's), I honestly believe that money fixing the standard
I5 stuff is well spent, when I built my engine I changed everything and not had one ignition problem and its pulling 2 bar most of the time..
I see lots of problems with mis fires on 2.0 tfsi many from the state of the inlet valves looking like they belong on an old diesel. Direct injection at its best? I'll stick to the old stuff!
The fact that the car is almost 20 year old and as far as I know still running its original coils goes to show that the old stuff was certainly made to last.

I agree, most of us expect myricals from 200k plus equipment and on many occasions get it..
The direct injection misfiring has nothing to do with coils.
The 2.0 TFSi coils had a recall early in their life, but that's sorted for ages now.
With 2.5ms dwell time the 2.0 TFSi coils easily do 40 psi without misfiring.
They also cost 30 quid a pop - it is a no-brainer for me.
Most failures with those coils are due to people running incorrect dwell time - after the recall was done there are few failures on OEM cars.
In my experience of mapping close to a hundred cars with the coil conversion I never had issues with any coils that were made by Bosch or Beru - not a single one failed, and I gave them tons of boost. Avoid other, cheap manufacturers though.
I agree with what your saying guys, the new stuff isn't as good long term. But, it's easy replaced compared to pos system and hard wired coils. Also you can get a spare in the local motorfactor on a Sunday, or do what I do, keep a genuine one in the boot to change at side of road costing 25quid. They are just so plentiful and cheap and easy changed...
I don't think anyone would deny that the old stuff is built to last, and certianly for the first 20 years of its life I'm sure it was ultra reliable. But at £175 each for a POS and £80 + each for a coil, plus all the wiring being pretty old & brittle, the original system is hugely expensive to renew. £300 for a set of new OEM coils and a harness is a much more realistic prospect
