    Fumoto Drain Valve

Had this for weeks but only just remembered I'm going to get it fitted at the next service. I got it from www.fumotovalve.com odered online and cost $33.95 including postage. Only took a few days to arrive.

I went for the one with the 'nipple' as they call it which allows you to attach as hose for even easier and cleaner oil changes . It is quite big but as the sump plug on the S2 sits on the side of the sump rather than the underneath there should be no problem with clearance.

    Part no T207 or T207N (w/nipple)

Should make regular oil changes a breeze and no worries about f*cking impossible to remove sump plugs like last time

Sorry for the slightly fuzzy pics, camera is having a wobbler.

Leigh - Can you lock this valve in the open position? Or does it spring closed?

I'm thinking of using this in the Catch Tank mod - it would make it easy to connect and cleaner to change oil.

      Cheers

        Can you lock it?

        Doug,

I have these on both my cars and love 'em. They stay open until you move the metal lever back to closed. The closed position also has a spring loaded lock so they don't open inadvertently. When the catch bucket is full, you just shut off the drain valve and go empty the bucket.

I have emptied scalding hot oil from my car without gloves, without getting burned and without even getting oil on my fingers. For a klutz like me, that is saying a lot.

I have it in my hand right now (the valve that is :wacked: ) as I still haven't fitted it.

It is fully locked by locating the lever in a small 'dip' when closed See first picture.

To open it you push the lever upwards - against a spring - and then to the right. It will stay open on its own but does not locate as it does when it is closed. To be honest I'd be surprised if it moved but you never know what will happen when you're driving.

It looks like you can dismantle the spring and lever mechanism by removing the circlip on top (see second pic) and having considered it a bit I'm sure it would be relatively easy to rig some simple mod to make sure it locates when open as well. Probably a dremel and a bit of creative material removal on the level coupled with cutting another location slot at the open position would work - in fact I'm sure that it can be done

Hope I've explained this well enough it would seem to make sense to use this for the catch tank mod.

Until you go and buy proper dremel bits :eek2: the all purpose shaft broke on my B&Q dremel while cutting my doors to fit the RS2 mirrors

                    Doug,

I am not one to stand in the way of anyone who wants to dremel something. But why

Believe me, they stay open until you move the lever back.

OK - but have you tested it staying open while you are driving? The Catch Tank mod has a permanantly open connection to the sump.

I know what you mean it is quite stiff and probably would stay open. It may be OK but I guess the possible implications of it closing with the catch tank mod could be nasty

Anyway cutting stuff up is cool as long as it still work afterwards

Any possibility for a GP on these? I'd like one and perhaps some of my pals would like too. The nearest dealer is in UK I presume. Help would be appreciated to obtain one or more.
