Well this is interesting, I started on v stream chips which were not bad, I just found mpg had gone to the low 20s, I then did the resistor mod and have to say the car felt noticeably smoother but still low mpg. I then got one of spinks ts chip setups and the car is perfect.
I drive it mostly in town rarely hitting any boost and mpg has gone up, when I want to go quick it boosts to 2 bar and you just hang on for life.
There has been a few times where I've had to run 95 Ron but as I deliberately don't hit boost with this in I don't anticipate it being an issue. When I put 97, 98 in it does run smoother.
Personally think whilst the ecu is open to install the chips you might as well do the resistor mod, it costs pennies from maplins and you'll have to solder in a new map sensor anyway.
Just my 2p talking from experience not guess work

Prj Is over hear any time soon. If you want a safe optimum map that won't blow your engine to bits Get him to map it.

        Your 98 RON is apparently NAmerican AKI (=(RON + MON)/2) = 93 or 94. I can buy (RON+MON)/2 = 94 (Chevron with techron).

        I hit 26 or 27 psig (1.8 to 1.9 Bar) peak boost with generic MRC Stage 3 RS2 software. Sea level = around 14.7 psi (1.01 Bar) absolute so 26 psi boost + 14.7 psi = 40.7 psia (= 1.79 Bar +1.01 Bar) = 2.8 Bar. I can't see how running a 250 kPa (2.5 Bar) map sensor would work for me.
What boost do you run at max power though mine's producing 350+ bhp from 5500 upwards at about 1.4-1.5 Bar and 1.9 midrange, so torque would be lower but power the same... Boost is not constant on an RS2 turbo; it's just not large enough.

Sorry to semi hijack thread but this is interesting. I have RS2 spec turbo, IC EM, Miltek etc with a 303bhp MTM Stage 1 chip. It feels rapid (proven against various cars), quicker than I thought it would be and fuel economy is very good (relatively speaking) and I generally drive it like I stole it. Would this literally limit the BHP to 303 or could it be more. 360bhp sounds better to me than 303bhp. I run it on Murco super unleaded all the time

Depends what other bits the MTM conversion entails, like injectors, exhaust manifold, intercooler etc. At full RS2 spec, it'll run 350+ easily.

Fuel economy is very good because it runs very lean. Seen plenty of holes in pistons on said MTM software.

Eeek, that doesn't sounds good. Might need to look into that. Cheers.

I've already had it mapped by PRJ but would like to get it swapped to an RS4 MAF as I've already broken the wire in mine. It is an expensive appetite she has...

My car is off the road right now, not sure when PRJ is next over, I probably need a few weeks to have it road worthy at best.

Was going to suggest, try and get it all installed prior to mapping, so you ensure it's all healthy before mapping. Theres too many lost mapping sessions because work needs doing first, fallen foul to this twice myself! Run it on mechanical boost (0.4bar) or stock RS2 chips with the ECU resistor mod if you have the capability till mapping...

think hp can be quite different between dynos and countries.

anyway rs2 is so old hat. usew newer technology
