96 S6 auto, what is the standard boost set up?

Can anybody tell me what the standard boost/bar reading would be when putting your foot down?

It is a 96 s6 estate auto, when I do put my foot down, the info on the dash reads upto 1.8

Also, Does homefry affect the boost?

    Thanks

normally you will see 1,9-2,0bar when you floor down the gas pedal.on overboost mode,i mean when you sudden kick down. you will occasionally see 2,1
bar for just a seconds and taperred down to 1,9bar.1,8bar seems to be normal for some case though, you might need to have a look on the throttle cable if it's properrly adjusted and wastegate spring might be a little weak due to the ages.i don't recommend you to drill out the wastegate cap and screw down the preload spring since when it's weak, screw it down didn't help any.you'd better find the 1,9bar wastegate spring.it helps an initial boost for a better response since it prevents the wastegate valve creep out.

As stated above: 1.8 is normal for an untuned AAN.
2.0 is possible in overboost, to get overboost, drive in the highest gear on low rpms and floor it. (I don't know if an automatic gearbox allows this without shifting down)The overboost should kick in between 3000 - 4200 revs or so.
Homefried cancels the overboost function and raises the max boost to 2,3 or 2,4.

Disagree, 0.8 is not really normal for standard AAN. Only in very cold weather, not in summer.
        Do a boost pressure test.

As Dmitri stated, you should have seen 2,0bar number atleast once.
If you didn't,something is going wrong.even with slightly boost leaky i still
          See 2,1bar.

I've taken it for a proper drive and have seen the boost reading at 2.0

Does having the homefry make a big difference?

If you have a homefry and only see 2.0 your car is definitely knackered.

About 0.3 to 0.4 bar extra max pressure, no more overboost function and the turbo pick's up alot faster, so yeah big difference.

I have an auto S6 with prj's chip set. I see 2.4bar come on real fast, tapering to 2.3-2.2. I think you have a slight boost leak.
I never had it with stock chip set, so could not tell you what the stock boost would read.

Well I have fitted the mtm ecu, on the label it says 264hp, I have seen 2.5 peak, 2.1 constant so I don't think there is a boost leak.

On another note the trans certainly doesn't like the extra power, sometimes when it kicks down it doesnt engage and just goes to the limiter and then it locks into 4th, turn it off and its good to go. Guess its a good excuse to convert it to manual, I have all the bits except a gearbox and clutch

My trans is fine with the extra power/tq. I do not abuse it it much though. I never launch it hard from stand still.

Your trans might be on the way out.
You could try flushing it or just replacing the fluid to correct level.

Yea I think a service wouldn't go a miss. Has probably never been done and its got 237,000km on the clock.

Its quite fun launching it, can build up 0.6bar boost and will spin the wheels
