    burning oil at tickover

I have a issue with my aby engine, it first started off when I booted it from cold with out letting it warm up! what it did was smoke like a chimney when it was at idle so I thought I blew the turbo so I got a recon turbo, when I fitted the turbo I noticed the turbo which I removed did not have any traces of any oil but noticed a bit of oil in the bottom of the the hose on the cold side. once I built it all up it was still there and after doing a bit of research on the forum I put it down to the pcv valve so I disconnected this and the breather which connects from the rocker cover to the rubber hose to the turbo and I still have the same problem. I haven't lost any power also it does not burn any oil whilst driving or when im on full boost.

    Any ideas?

    cheers

also the previous owner had the engine rebulit by a audi techy over a year ago and everything was replaced.

Oil smoke at idle is normally worn value guides or the turbo seals are passing oil

Windage tray. That shouldn't have any effect, it's only fitted to 3B, ABY, ADU & AAN. Not sure why it wasn't refitted though, its there for a reason.

Is it not just residual oil in the I/C and pipework from previous escapade...

I will check that tomorrow, it only seems to do it when its warm and on tickover, also ive been in touch with the previous owner and he had all valves guides and stem seals replaced with genuine audi ones,
                  thanks
