    S2 to RS2 upgrade-Help

hi guys.I need your advise.I have got S2 Coupe ABY and i want to upgrade it to as close RS2 as i can but i read few threads when people did it and they started to have running issues after that including recent thread with boost jumping up and down.
My car now is mechanicly 100% original but i did dyno run and it came up with 273bhp so it looks like prev.owner re-map it.Anyway-it always start first time ,runs perfectly fine and i never had any problems with it and i would love it to be like that after modification.

Like so fare i have got brand new Turbo K24 7200 ,set of brand new RS2 injectors and new 044 fuel pump.

Soon i will buy RS2 exhaust manifold,i will get mod.air box and custom made exhaust(3" turbo back with only one silencer-rear box)

For this moment in time i will keep original IC,water pump, camshafts.

And here i need your help guys-is all above sounds ok to you?

What about my engine ecu?Do i need RS2 one or should i just found somebody who will map mine?

Who would you reccomend to remap it?

What sort of power would you expect wit this set up?

One more thing i almost forgot-what about MAF sensor?S2 or RS2 one?

Thank you in advance for your advises guys.

You dont need 3'' exhaust for rs2 spec. The stock exhaust will be good for about 350bhp.
The must have items are rs2 turbo or garret, 044 fuel pump, rs2 exhaust mani or if you can afford it go for wagner, rs2 injectors or bigger, and the last and most important Dmitri's remap. That is it.
If your car is mechanically 100% you will be very happy with this upgrade.

But I am sure you will think I am talking crap and needlessly you will end up spending thousands on your car........

Try to get the RS Manifold- it´s definitely better than the Wagner one.

IC I would use the RS2 one.

Complete RS Step with mapping will bring you up to 350 or 360 hp, that´s the Limit of the Charger. If you use the stock ABY cams, a bit less hp, but boost in lower RPM range. ADU cams make a bit more hp, but boost a little later.

Why do you think the rs2 manifold is better than the Wagner Evo?

It's the little things people forget like

          3 bar map sensor
R201 resistor mod (some peeps do it others don't but whilst the ecu is open and it costs 29p why not do it ?)

I'm still trying to get mine to run properly but as ever it's lack of time.
I was chatting at adi and people were running rs turbo on stock s2 injectors and still making 350 along with the stock fuel pump

Personally the last item on my list would be the bigger intercooler

Hi Robo,i don't think you talking crap at all,all you put there make 100%sens to me-but i will still end up spending thousands anyway :-))).Reason im thinking about 3" exhaust is to live gate open for future modification(400bhp+).i think then 3"exhaust is -must be isn't it?

It's essential mate your 250kpa sensor has to go, 3 bar ones are quite cheap you can get one off prj for around £30

I've taken lots of pics of ecus and tonight il post up some pics

Great job Andy.what about Maf sensor,i gues this is on the MUST BE list aswell to do this job properly?
And about EM-i was under impression that Wagner manifold is better then original rs2 one ???????

                    Maf not needed

Most rs manifolds now will be cracked, Wagner is newer so if you get one it will be better condition

As i know, MAF is different between ABY and ADU, but difference is so small, that both can be used, difference is <5%.

Map Sensor is 300kpa needed; good mapping on K24/ 7200 will set boost around 1,8 to 1,9 bar, 250kps Sensor from ABY is only up to 1,5 bar, so 300kpa from ADU is needed.

R201 Resistor is only needed when you got a complete RS2 Step with stock software, or software is written for ADU stock ECU, cause ADU stock ECU has this Resistor inside.
If you do a mapping on stock ABY ECU, or use a ready software that was written for ABY ECU, Resistor is not needed.

Wagner Manifold, IMO, is not really better than RS2, cause it´s too big. With RS2 Mani, Charger will spool up on lower RPM, with Wagner, it comes a bit later. And in upper RPM, you won´t be able to fully use the Wagner´s Advantage- if there is one- cause your Charger is too small. Both are made on same Material--> both will crack some time.

3" Exhaust on RS2 step is not really needed- but that´s turbo motors. Bigger--> better :-)
Maybe it´ll bring some few hp and helps the Manifold not getting so warm... so why not. If you want to spend the Money ;-)
Oh...just read, you want to keep the door open for more power...good idea, but don´t forget, that this will need another charger, and maybe that then the Exhaust won´t fit any more.

The Wagner EM will flow more than the stock EM. It should be more resistant to cracking (not sure they've been around to prove this but it's been designed as such). It's an upgrade and will support >500hp. That said the RS2 EM has been proven to about 450hp so it's certainly up to the task, but getting a good one is very hard.

Don't worry about map sensors and resistor mods - get a good mapper (Dmitri) who will take care of that for you when it's remapped. Unless you're comfortable with it I wouldn't be taking a soldering iron to your ECU.

Go at least with an RS2 fuel pump, no point pushing points of failure that are easy to upgrade - best to be a little defensive, you don't want to be running lean! MAF will make difference with S2 vs RS2, you just need a good one that's reading within spec.

You don't need to do the exhaust but you'll feel a noticeable improvement if you do. I did on my coupe, more power and better low down. At that power I'd at least go 3" downpipe and 2.75" back.

Ross and Quattronaut, thank you very much for advise.now EM and exhaust is not a problem for me,i know what i will do about it, but what you boys saying about engine module and internal sensor is not matching. Most of the boys here is advise to replace this sensor for 3bar so i think i will stick to this track.forgive me if it is Silly question but what about company like MTM for example??is it still better to contact Dmitri?

Sorry for asking, but Ross, is it possible that you forgot a word here? The "...you just need a good one.." sounds, as if it is equal, which type, main thing is, it WORKS well...

I would contact Dmitri. I don´t know him, but everyone in here says him to do good work, and I think, that MTM won´t give you that personnel support and answer question like he will do.
