If you're rebuilding it all, then the mileage is completely immaterial; far more important to get one that's got a minimum amount of rust or that has been resprayed and of course, any tasty upgrades can either be used or sold off to fund the project - complete, tuned cars sell for far less than the sum of their parts...
Best of luck! I like mine with 360+bhp and 500bhp will certainly be an order of magnitude higher... in a straight line at least

I fully appreciate all what's said. This would be a long term baby for me so am not too faised by cost. I just love the car!
To be fair, if any of you can point me in the direction of some nicely spec'd examples then I'd more than consider them! But in general tuned or not seem to be rarer than rocking horse s@#t?Comment

You need to decide on coupe Vs avant. Cue the inevitable coupe vs avant war
Audinut is selling a very well sorted avant right now
Panthero Coupé quattro 20vt
Indigo ABY coupé
Imola B6 S4 AvantComment

Not to offend any owners, but I simply prefer the coupe image wise even though they start a lower spec.
Is there anyone selling any coupe's currently? Regardless pm me if selling either of what your after and the car by all means.Comment

So Sonic loves the Coupes.... I on the other hand have had both and am in an Avant which I actually prefer to the Coupe. The coupe was fun and had a great sporty image and when you followed one you expect it to be fast due to the sporty rear end. Also when driving one if you look in the rear view mirror, the curve of the top of the rear seats makes you remember you are in a more sporty car. HOWEVER, they arent the most useful or practical of spaces... Yes I loaded mine up with 3 surfboards, 3 people and all our camping kit for a few days on the coast (No idea how i managed it) but the space in the avant is so much easier and better for me and my uses. I also think the avant has that unsuspecting thing going for it and also think about the traditional (more recent maybe a better wording?) side of the fast Audis... all have been at least a saloon but mostly avants.
I think if you want the coupe then go for it but for your engine specs I would make sure you get an ABY.... if however you arent to fussed get an avant as the space and practicallity makes it more useable and due to it being more subtle you wont get every idiot in their Scooby trying to race you, also the Porsche owners dont expect an old estate car to be able to keep up with them and the looks on these owners faces is priceless.... (Its definately better in an avant than when you shock them in a coupe lol)Comment

500hp is not too difficult to achieve. it is really the next step to simple bolt ons though. bolt on + maybe a good description
as for car type. ive had a coupe. dont think id have another. it has to be the worst shell ive ever driven in a performance car. coming from the older school vw's i thought there was something wrong with it when i got it.
maybe the avants the same. i know the saloon isn't. far stiffer across the board.
ive never had an avant. to be honest id think about it, then go s4/rs4 instead if i needed to carry wooden boxes.Comment

An avant behaves much better at high power levels,
the chassis is better than a coupe and the rear suspension is
vastly superior.Comment

Cheers Sonic lol. Thats definately not a case of someone putting words in my mouth lol....
Ask anyone on this forum and they will say the chassis on the Avant is superior and stiffer than a coupe and will perform better with higher power.... Unless your name is Sonic
(I jest with you Andy)
Its all down to personal taste still. What ever you choose will be right for you and thes 'coffin cariers' are to small to fit a coffin into.... maybe the slipper wagon is more apt??? Then again you can fit your slippers and your pipe in a coupe too cant you Sonic???
(again Im just messing mate) Im fairly sure slippers and a pipe in Sonics car woul be pinned to the back of it somewhere as he put his foot to the floor!

Most Audis handle like a bag of bolts. The seats are poor in my opinion too. However, the engines are sweeeeet! That is wht we drive them
With that in mind, get a coupe. If you want to carry a dog, buy an Avant. The coupes look much better but are deffo still sleepers in comparison to a proper sporty car. The appearance has and is ageing superbly.
Not many Porsches keep up with my Coupe unless they come with the letters GT attached to them he he. I think it might be more to do with Porsche drivers overloading their cars with too many pipes and pairs of slippers. Their power to weight ratio is well off.Comment

Its good to see friendly banter 😊 I understand why many would choose the Avant but I don't need it for any practical use. Me and the best half have a cheap to run X1 for her commute and it tows my boat, I have a van. So were happy in that aspect, I do love the look on the coupe and as said you have to go with your taste. I have huge respect for both cars..
I'm guessing know one knows of any coupes forsale other than the two I've found?
