Got caught in traffic today, guage hit 90 and stayed there til i started to move again and it cooled down, then when randomly driving and temp at 80 ish the temp warning light came on so i reckon it must be a faulty mfts!

    Will VAGparts have these?

    Cheers

Could be a partially blocked rad, or a dodgy thermostat

Mine sits 2 notches below 90 when driving (gradients are wierd on these cars), and occasionally gets to one notch over 90 when the fan cuts in and cools her down. In the peak of summer i run the air con when sat in traffic, this pulls in the main fan on slow and this cools the car down.
