Download this this and read at your leisure:

That does not rule out other mechanical issues.
One is the flywheel pin has broken.
Another is that either the camshaft pulley keyway or the crankshaft pulley keyway have sheared and the timing is floating about.
Usually the first gives an instant cut out and no restart. For the second see below.

kv is no good to use,7a is

worst case is that the woodruff key on the cam or crank sprocket has broken off due to bolt not being done up correctly, had both those issues before.

Also I suppose there could be a flywheel pin issue(I can't remember if the 3b is common for dropping its pin or not)

or if a tooth on flywheel is missing then it wouldn't start but you would hear that

Timing side of things is ok and when it started it was running fine so could be crank sensor been starting to go but does that not cut the fuel on a 3b

Yes if you had lost the pin in the flywheel. It would not put the fuel pump relay in on cranking

There is a lot of conflicting evidence!
For example when the timing pin goes the car is supposed to keep running. I know of at least 4 examples whe the car started to die straight away.
That other link says that the fuel pump was energised but not the injectors. As they had it all hooked up, who are we to argue. You say you have fuel but do you mean the fuel pump runs or the injectors are pulsed?
If you were able to pull the codes it might give you a clue. Other than that its a matter of elimination. There are no codes for the mechanical isues so you need to check. In fact I would start with the basic timing check, that the marks on the flywheel, the cam cover and the dizzy all align. The timing pin issue is age related I guess but the pulley issues are down to cack handed maintenance.

The fuel system is fine everything is doing as it should theres just no spark yet theres 2x12 feeds to coil which i wasnt sure if that was correct as most coils have a +ve and -ve feed but ther is no output hense my suspicion that the coil is faulty

Checked the coil resistances they're within the tolerences mesured the rotorarm and its 3.5k so need to change that first. After i can get the dang thing off ita well stuck on

When my 3b ran out of spark I found the distributor to be broken.

Finaly got the rotor arm off in kit form looking at the markings i think it may be original

The fact that you say it has been becoming harder to start makes me think more likely a sensor issue than a mechanical one.
You can easily check the timing pin is still present - remove the crank sensors and spin the engine over and check it comes into view through the hole.
You can swap the crank reference and engine speed sensors around on the block and at the bulkhead (they are the same) and see if you have a sensor fault.
Are you 100% sure the dizzy is aligned properly? If so, test the hall sensor output with an LED and verify that is working.
