    Which Spark Plugs?

OK I'm a bit stumped on which plugs to go for.
I've read all about the issue with the OEM Bosch F5DPOR where the ceramic breaks and if you're lucky causes a missfire, if you're unlucky it breaks off and drops into the cylinder

So I'm not too keen on that happening to my motor!

What are the recommended options for moderate boost up to 2bar?
I've pieced together some options below, anyone got any real-world feedback?

Bosch F5DPOR - Platinum. Proven reliability & performance, poor quality in recent years - )ceramic breaks)
Bosch FR5DTC - Copper. Don't last as long but cheaper and supposedly good & reliable performance?
NGK BKR7EIX - Iridium. Don't know much about these?
    NGK BKR7E - Copper - I guess as per Bosch FR5DTC above?
Denso IK series - Iridium. Apparently these tend to foul easily so like a good thrashing, possibly not so god for a daily?

What are the TT-RS & RS3 etc using?

Im using NGK BCPR7ES in my 2.5l stroker engine. And I know alot of people use them and reduce the gap to 0.5mm wich I also have done.
Works fine with 2.4bar boost =)

And an upside to these are the price, here in sweden I get 5 of these for the price of 1 bosch platina plug =)

No issues with my Bosch F5DPOR in the 14 months I've had them in. Standard power, daily driver.

I had FR5DTC or 3sets before it's the great copper plugs for I5 but the downside is the lifespan dramatically short.you also couldn't regap on the Tri-electrode plugs as well. After that I decided to go for NGK BKR8EIX(or 9 not sure abput that).it holds well on the high boost and seems last longer than
generic Copper plugs.i regapped once after 20,000Kms since i haven't done when i first installed them.FYI.
one of a few I5 from Asia.

I'm running OEM Spark Plugs, I've ordered them after the VIN of my car.
I really don't know what they are but they work just fine with my 400+ current setup.
              What's wrong with using OEM?

They tend to fall apart and rattle around in the engine.
Been a big issue for a few years now.

I'm running Bosch F3CS. Ideal for cranking the boost on E85.
Just got a new set of five, delivered from England for approx 25 quid. Will gap them to 0.45mm.
Tip: don't regap these after use, as regapping a heat cycled spark plug can cause the ground electrode to come off.

Any idea how suitable they are for more moderate boost on pump fuel Espen?

I've been using the NGK BKR7EIX Iridium plugs for the last 1000 miles or so.
RS2+ spec, virtual daily driver. Seem fine so far

Probably too cold, so they could likely foul. E85 burns so clean that fouling is normally not an issue.
Reason we run them is that compared to race fuel, E85 has similar or better resistance to detonation, but not quite as good resistance to pre-ignition, thus a colder plug for more pre-ignition resistance under big boost.

Me too, NGK BKR7EIX for the last 1500 miles. No problems and they appear to foul less than the Bosch ones do if you just start the car and move it a bit before stopping it again when cold.

                        Approx. £6 each.

                          Alex,

My urS6 start to run on 4 cylinders, and I felt it may be the plugs so ordered a set of the NGK BKR7EIX (2667). When I took out one of the exiting Bosch plugs I found the reason for the non running cylinder. The central metal electrode had detached from the body of the plug, and the reason it hadn't dropped into the cylinder was that the curved metal bit at the end of the spark plug was stopping it. Otherwise it would have presumably done some nasty damage to the head, valves, piston, bore, meaning that I'd be forced to have to have the engine rebuilt prematurely.

So I really felt like I'd dodged a bullet. I put in the new NGKs and the engine ran perfectly again on 5 cylinders.

( €11 each in my motor factors, but still well worth it give the issue with the C4.

As mentioned, in another thread, given the amount of effort you've put into the car / engine, I wouldn't dare risk putting Bosch plugs into it. We've all read about people on here who rebuilt their enigne and lost it very soon afterwards, reagrdless of the reason, I feel their heartache, even though it doesn't have anything to do with me, because I know their disappointment - Quattronics and the heartache and expense that is ahead of them.

So I wouldn't like to see it happen to you / your car.

Other people have posted they have Bosch plugs and nothing has gone wrong, if they want to live dangerously fine, but I couldn't live with the possible potential of a time bome that would take out my engine, because I wouldn't invest stg£30.00 in the security / insurance of my engine. How can they know their Bosch plugs are not possibly dicky ?

So on balance, you might consider the NGK plugs ?

                          No pressure.

You must be getting close'ish if you're asking about plugs.

                          Kind regards.

OEM. Spark Plugs is your new Time Bomb! I had over 7 spark plugs failed
within 3years.the ceramic shield came off due to heat or for some reasons.the worst is last only one week.It caused the engine running like a bone dry hydralic lifters with a loud tick tick noise and who gotto think the brand new spark plugs would cause this?

So Bosch F3CS will work fine on stock AAN with tune? What gap? Waiting for VEMS to come in with some other stuff to start messing with 93 octane and E85 mapping.
