way too wide out of box. probly me to be honest not trying harder at the time to gap them better.
they were ok on cruise. didn't clog too much but on boost over 1.4bar were a bot iffy. ik's were poor on cruise. clogged in no time. on boost were great. stock plugs worked well all the time. when i went 1.6bar or so i started to get stutters at about 4500-5000. increasing the charge on vems sorted this out. up to 2 bar no problems and no coil issues. that on original stock coils.
turbo size for me means no boost below 4500 or so.
when i get the engine in the car ill see what happens again. hopefull before end of year.
I regap my BKR9EIX about 0.5 working flawlessly on any boost level with E85.
Can anyone confirm that after installing new set of bosch f5dpor in the correct way(not dropping them in their place!!just using a telescopic magnet or a good spark plug tubular with rubber inside) ceramic got broken or the end/platinum broke?
Thx,
I posted many years ago a long saga about trying non standard plugs ( NGK coppers ). They were very good to start with, but lasted less than 1000 Miles. I read of the problems with the standard Bosch ( F5DPOR) plugs and installed NGK BKR-7EIXs just about a year ago; as recommended by one of our Forum Gurus. Motor instantly more responsive and nicer to drive. I have also re-gapped them down to 0.5mm and this (so far) has stopped any misfiring on moderate / high boost. ( Bosch plugs are not adjustable ). The car has also just passed all emissions tests for its MOT ( small gaps = less burn duration = more CO/HC ; theoretically(?)). I am also using Shell V-power...

thank you for your feedback. I feel they are excellent plugs.
Do make sure you check the gaps out of the box. I think mine were 0.7-0.8mm ( way too big for our application ). Cheaper than OEM and delivered next day by sparkplugs.co.uk. Please let us know how you get on.
I've been using the NGK BKR7EIX Iridium plugs for the last 1000 miles or so.
RS2+ spec, virtual daily driver. Seem fine so far
Where did you get these that come with the m4 pin? Just bought a set of bkr7eix and they came with the larger pin connection that could not be unscrewed to reveal the pin....

i use PFR7B in most engines without issues, above 30psi i go PFR8B
my AAN never had an issue in 2yrs on 7B`s with daily use and hard abuse
everyone has their own choice and preferance though
Looked at getting some PFR7B's but not been able to locate any that have the terminal that can be removed to allow the M4 thread to be used on our leads, Where you get yours from

I re-gapped the BKR8IX's down to 0.6 mm and found they started fouling if the car was left idling so I ordered a set of Denso PK22PR8 copper cored plugs from my local factors, they were the only plug they stocked that was recommended by the manufacturer for an S2.
Left the gap how they came out of the box at approx 0.75 mm and they performed perfectly yesterday and didn't foul up when the car was idling for over half an hour during the MOT on Wednesday.
However they were expensive at nearly a tenner each trade price and being copper cored may not last long.
I also suspect the NGK's fouled up due to a defective plug or heavy handed gaping on my part as it was always the same plug, confirmed when I tried it in another cylinder.

I have just taken delivery of some NGK PFR7B plugs and was just starting to change them over when I noticed that they will sit somewhat deeper into the combustion chamber than the Bosch plugs that I would like to change out. My car is a '94 RS2, as far as I know the head has never been removed so standard compression/head gasket.
