Does VEMS even do DBW?
I wouldn't go through all the effort to retrofit one personally. Especially on a car that's not meant to have one from factory.
DBW is mostly useful to provide traction control, smooth rev limiter, delete the ISV, and allow to create a torque reserve by cracking it wider open and reducing ignition advance, so you don't need to start the engine at 1500 rpm in cold weather.
