Proper tension of AAN Timing Belt

    Hello all!

I am just about to do the timing belt on my 1995 Urs6 and I have one question.

It looks like people adjust the tension on the belt to where you can "still turn it 90 degrees easily"....

I'd like to know the actual proper way to make sure the belt is tensioned correctly. Not only for longevity but for reduced drag on the motor. (However slight it may be)

What is the correct way to set timing belt tension?

Would I need this tool to do so? http://schwabentools.com/site/index....nsioning-gauge

    Thanks for all the help!

Oh wow, thanks for the heads up! And the full manual.

Looks like I will be calibrating my finger feeler tool.

IME the German engineers have weak fingers!
Using the AAN / ABY tensioner arrangement it should be possible to set it using a torque figure for reputability

You should perform R&R study on your finger gauge
