Fault code advice - cutting boost

    Car - 1991 3B coupe

Back story - Changed the lambda sensor for a new bosch item, and air box for an ABY item and K&N two weeks ago.

Since the lambda and airbox change the car has run perfectly, better than ever in fact while using it daily, until today. When driving to work along a back road I booted it in 3rd gear and at about 3.5k I was almost launched through the windscreen with what I assume was my first experience of boost cut Recreated the issue a number of times before pottering the rest of the journey at no/low boost without issue.

Read the fault codes when I got to work.

    523 - Intake air temperature sender G42
    533 - Idle speed control
544 - Boost pressure to maximum exceeded

523: This has been an ever-present and is normally the only code showing and the car seems to run fine. On this alone I assume this is not the issue here.
533: This has appeared occasionally since I've owned the car. Again, due to it running fine for months/years when showing the code, I assume this is not the issue here.
544: This is new and thus, likely the problem(??).

To cut an increasingly long story short, is this likely to be as a result of something I've done or just a coincidence and I should start with the basics. I believe a boost leak is one of the most likely caused for this problem??

Do you have a boost gauge to reference what boost pressure peak you're used to seeing?

Most likely a boost leak so it's worth checking, but there are other causes too. If you had the MAF out with the air box, my first port of call would be a simple clean of the MAF connector, make sure it's seated properly, and ensure the hose clips are tight.

Overboosting would cause a boost cut rather than what sounds like a fuel cut, would feel like a soft reduction in power rather than the 'brake pedal stabbed' feeling.

I'm sure others will be along with advice soon!

Pay particular attention to all the small vacuum hoses. I have found even the tiniest leak can cause boost cut

I hate boost cut sure it's no good for the car either, mine's been OK for a couple o weeks but it still has it's moments. Makes for very nervous driving when you've had it happen a few times
