    billet maincaps

when do you go for billet maincaps?
i see some going wit billet with 500/600 hp
i see some driving 800hp without them.

if you dont look at money, when would it be worth it. 500hp? 600hp? 700hp? 800hp?

Sorry Secchi, my browser won't let me reply to messages or see sent messages for some reason. If someone knows how to fix it please let me know.

As for me choosing to go with those caps, I think I read somewhere that someone actually broke a standard cap running big power. I would've gone with a girdle, but it seems like a lot of work for a builder to get the spacers/shims machined correctly and thought I should at least get these if anything.

        Girdle... http://www.s2forum.com/forum/showthread.php?t=68682 ...not even expensive.

Of course, like Pat told, some work to do to fit it properly.

I remember now my other reason was that I'm using a tall deck stroker block and wan't to keep the block down low as possible as I'm already having issues with bonnet clearance.

That girdle is priced really nice though Thuppu

I got a girdle already from cp. Very nice kit and 6mm thick so you dont have to get your block higher.
It was all incl shims arp's and girdle for a nice 325 euro's

Ok, so does that fit these old gearboxes?

does the engine bolt up to the 01E? Short answer, yes. Long answer, needs a bit of trimming but does work nicely
