About to do the timing on my rs2. Looking for all the torque settings for bolts.
I know the main bolt is 450nm but what about all the bolts on the water pump etc?
Any one know where I can find this info?
Please don't attempt to torque up the M6 tensioner bolts to 20 NM they will either snap or be very close to snapping. This is the recorded info but is wrong and nearly caught me out the first time I did an ABY before common sense kicked in. The correct torque for these three fixings 10 NM, the M8 bolts on a 3B water pump/tensioner are 20 NM, perhaps this is where the error in data has arisen from.
All the other torques quoted above are correct.
Good rule of thumb if unsure of the torque for small fixings is M6 10 NM and M8 20 Nm.

The tensioner bolts are a high tensile but I agree 20nm is too much. I didn't feel comfortable with only 10nm though.
As a general rule M6 are 10nm, M8 are 20nm and M10 are 40nm.
However think of things like subframe bolts, wishbone bolts, CV to flange bolts etc are M10 and take way more than 40nm. So it does depend on the bolt grade awell.

My hex head snapped first but yes. Almost took my bloody eye out trying to tighten up the pulley bolts (this is why i generally let other people work on the car!)
Whilst we're on the subject of bolt torque and to keep it all in one place.. spark-plugs and wheels?
Spark plugs, 20 NM, when fitting new ones tighten them up once then back them off and re-torque twice, should stop them coming loose without risking over tightening.

So the tensioner bracket bolts (x3) on the adu are 10nm?
What about the one in the middle of the idle/relay roller?.
If the idle roller bolt is a long M6 as found on the 3B then it's 10 NM, pretty sure it's the same bolt but a different roller on the ABY/ADU engines. As above I recall someone in the know say that 20NM for the tensioner bolts is wrong (which I'm sure it is) and that 10 NM is correct. However I've done them to 15 NM as 10 doesn't feel quite tight enough, I also use a drop of thread lock on them as well as the idle roller bolt.
