Engine shutting off at max boost after new BoV

    Hi there.

Lately i replaced the stock BoV with an aftermarket one. (old one was not good enough anymore). But after ive done so, i've experienced that once going MAX boost and they dumping the clutch and let go of the throttle. Then the engine either shuts off, or goes down to about 4-500 rpm before rising again?? the Vacuum hose on top of the BoV is in fine condition and the BoV seems to me to be working as it should?

Hope somebody is capable of telling as i haven't ben able to find anything on the internet.

Is this a Blow off as you say or a recirculation valve as stock ?
If it's a BOV it's not very good to run them with a MAF based system.

I believe stock system uses a diverter valve not a blow-off valve. Heard that these can cause running problems on our cars.

Yearh. Ive heard so too. Mine is a hybrid. So its 50 % recirculated and 50 atmospheric. Ive considered removing the bov/bpv completely. And i know about all of the rumors about destroying the turbo and all of that. But i do believe there is a reason as to why many professionel race teams dont use bov/bpv

but tried that once and had the same problem.

what would it require to remove the bov/bpv and make it run smoothly?

The problem is you are dumping counted air to the atmosphere. This does not work with a MAF.
If you remove the recirc valve altogether, then you will go through MAF's like hotcakes.

Fit a 710N valve from an Audi TT and forget about this.

so by that you mean i will destroy my MAF's? how come then that alot of other people have no problems running without BoV or any other kind of valve's on engines with MAF's?

Because those other people most likely have a hot film maf without the flimsy wire - if it is a turbocharged engine.
Even then, if you remove the recirc valve, then you will shorten the life of your turbo, the oil coming from the breather system will run in reverse and spray all over the MAF, the readings will be incorrect and also the wire will tear eventually.

But, it's your car, you don't have to take my word for it. Go ahead and try. You might want to price up a new MAF before you do though - might give you second thoughts.

yearh ive heard about the incorrect readings. And heard about the MAF's wire in another subject of speech. But is there any other way to achieve the "chirp chirp chirp chirp" bov sound then?

Buy a speaker and wire it to your throttle pedal?

There are very few people on this forum who will find it serious. VWVortex might be a better place to ask such questions.

You've already got a 5 pot engine, no need for any chirp chirp sounds just get a louder exhaust

Ok. Im sorry about that prj.

my intention wih my s2 is to get it to sound just about as the good old rally quattro. Thought there might be a way to do so.

as to my exhaust. I am running a fox exhaust. Decattet and removed mid silencer allready. Have thought of removing the silincing in the last silencer. But i am worried that it will get too noisy due to where i live.

There is no way to make it sound like those cars because those cars had a new turbo like every race due to antilag etc.
Also it will not work on a mass-flow system, you need speed-density on the ECU.

speed density? what would that be? LOVE learning new things!
