I was driving the rs2 today and went to do a pull from 3500rpm in third but when I got to about to 5000rpm it seemed like the turbo cut out and I lost the extra power. It was like the car was non-turbo. I

Thought this might be the case.
My revs drop and it almost stalls at idle when the fan comes on. Prj on this forum said that this could be a boost leak problem as well.
My mechanic did a boost leak smoke test and said all is ok but I found some info on here saying that the rs2 needs to be tested differently.
Will show it to them and get them to test this way.Comment

Smoke test isn't really meant for a turbo motor, pressurize the system is best with 1 BarThought this might be the case.

Have not had a chance to do the proper boost test yet but I have noticed a few other things/noises
1- there is a ticking sound at idle which seems to come from under the car around the cat converters or before. Definitely coming from the exhaust area not from the engine bay.
Exhaust leak?
2- on acceleration between 2000 -3500 rpm there is a fluttering sound like air escaping from somewhere. When the turbo kicks in there is no sound but as stated earlier the turbo seems to drop in and out and there is a hesitation with the power delivery.
Sounds like it is on the drivers side and from the engine area.
Could this be a broken diverter valve?Comment

So I was looking through a lot of threads on the forum and decide to play around with the MAF plug. This seems to have cured my problem car now does not cut out when coming to a stop. Turbo boost seems to arrive earlier and is smooth the whole way to the redline. It's like a new car!!!
I am going to pull the plug apart and clean it all with contact cleaner. along with two vertical round plugs at the back of the engine bay behind the abs unit which are heavily corroded. Anyone know what these are for?Comment

Any pictures of these plugs you are talking about? Do you mean the ones under the inlet manifold? So I was looking through a lot of threads on the forum and decide to play around with the MAF plug. No the MAF is the electrical device measuring mass of air entering the engine - its on top of the airbox - 6 pin plug and prone to problems if you get moisture in there etcPaul Nugent

That I understand but he was also asking for two different plugs near the ABS pump, not sure which he is referring to here

Ahh those two round plugs are T8e and T8f - nothing performance critical on those wires - things like oil pressure switches and maybe Mfts too - need to look it up for pinout etc but you can get some water ingress there leading to silly woes.Paul Nugent
