    MAF to K26/27Turbo hose restriction?

    Hi all,

quick question about the MAF to Turbo hose. I've got a K26/27 and
to allow the stock size hose to fit onto the intake, Hoffer provided me with
a steel ring to put inside the hose, so I could slide a bigger silicone
hose over it, with the right size for the turbo inlet.

    picture explains it better:

Now the obvious question is, doesn't that form some kind of restriction? It also isn't
exactly the smoothest tubing for air entering the turbo with that collar etc.
I've seen that Roose has a 76mm hose, but haven't measured my intake yet to see
    if that's about right.

Might aswel make no difference whatsoever, but curious to hear opinions

It's a bit of a shame as it effectively gets smaller and then bigger again so yes it is a restriction. Also will cause some turbulence from the step. A bigger hose would definitely be better.

Thinking about it, I'm surprised you have room for that adapter behind the headlight.

iirc I had to cut the stock size hose a bit, but it's still a very tight fit indeed!

I bought a custom Roose hose for my KX500 which is essentially a 26/27. It had a restriction in it as it was based on their 3B Maf to turbo hose. In the end a made my own hose from silicon elbows and a reducer hose. That's not a good place to have a restriction as it will definitely restrict flow into the compressor.

Ok will try to measure the intake to see if Roose their 76mm intake hose
          is a possible upgrade

Would be great if Roose could do a k26/27 maf hose. I'm also using the adapter.

I'll 3rd that! I'd be up for one. It's not too much of a restriction though - the intake is tapered to the compressor and the metal spacer sits into it with quite a smooth transition. However it does form a step from the intake hose of about 1mm, not too severe but can only be a negative.

Strange thing is that their 76mm hose has the DV-inlet on the rear instead of on the left side... why would that be?

This is probably the hose you are looking for, http://www.ebay.de/itm/Silikon-Ansau...-/281029738594 it will suit the 70mm intake on your k26/k27 turbo (got the same turbo) and against the maf that´s 80mm or if you have a maf bypass tube that Ive got: http://www.efiexpress.com/catalog/pr...products_id=70 They where out of stock on the intake hose Before so I havent ordered it but I will as soon they get them back in stock.

Strange to see that that also has the DV-valve connection rearwards to the headlight. There simply isn't enough place to mount it there

It should be on the left side. But good to know that it is 70mm, thanks!

                    Edit: it's the cam-cover connection, not DV-valve.

I've mailed both GTM and Roose to see if they can help. GTM indeed seemed to have it, but also strangely enough with the cam-cover ventilation (sorry not DV connection, i was wrong) facing the headlight. Asked Roose about that since I also found pictures of the GTM 70mm one with the correct placement.

seems just to be that the turbo valve is wrong on the silicone one...

I have the same adaptor setup, however it isnt too bad as with the insert inside the original hose it matches that intake of the K26/K27 so you dont really have much of a lip if any.
