LOL yeah, I'll bet that made them all jump

By the way any ideas on the torque limits of our cranks? As Sal and myself are going to be bolting up one of these GT35R's to our motors in the near future, (Sal before me).

The commonly known limit on an S2 crank is around 700Nm. way to go there, 650Nm at 7000 RPM means 640-ish HP and 7500 RPM would be 680 HP...

So there's some margin left there.

The engine didn't go in a very spectacular way, but the main bearing caps jumped off

oh well... I know it's not my fault and I had done nothing wrong (EGTs were 860 before the turbo, no pinging or retarding detected/logged, AFR was solid 12.2:1), and quite honestly, yesterday's 515 HP/550Nm would have been enough for me... only the owner wanted more torque...

              1. The car takes 8 secs from 100 to 200 km/h on the GPS. So I guess the power/torque figures are about right.

              2. , but oh well, at least someone found out where the limit is on a stock 210HP S3 crank...
              1. What's the weight of the car? Mine does 100-195(measured with g-tech) in 8 sec with 1650kg (with driver). Havn't dynoed it yet so nice to get a hint if the g-tech is accurate

              2. Is the S3 crank forged? Someone once told me that only the first 1.8T crank's where forged (-95-96) Don't know if it's true, but if it is, then an early crank or another(2.0 or maybe TDI) forged crank would be a smart move yes.

Car weight is about 1450 kgs, maybe a little more for this one because of FMIC and some other stuff...

I know that a 225 HP TT crank is indeed forged. I have no clue for the 210 HP S3 one...

The guy is going to get a 2.0l kit from Dahlback/MTM and there will be no more problems.

GTech is not that accurate IMHO. Even when you set everything right, 1/4 mile times and speeds are off most often. BTDT....

The dyno IS accurate. A stock TT 225 dynoed 224HP/282Nm (factory rating 225HP/280Nm) yesterday on the very same dyno.

                HTH,

Rix, WTF? I've heard some stories of 210HP S3s not being quattro, although I've tested and tuned a couple myself and it's hard to believe, otherwise, I can't figure out why the 225 with can-bus is SO heavy...

they are all quattro(haldex),there must be ekstra protection, all the ekstras weight alot som off the first model didn´t have fog light´s reverse sensor,i had abblend bare speigel (all 3 of them),symphony radio(big),they all have zenon climate control heated seat´s and recaro, some in cloth, some like mine black leather and blue alcatare, the mirrors weigh a ton hand polish alu.other then that i don´t.
it must be that ekstra 15hp and 10nm,that gives the weight diff.
