what limits hp when remapping?

The extra 50-60hp of a remap will make a big difference. With exhaust and intake improvements mine was knocking on 300hp, albeit with a custom map.
In short, do no underestimate the improvement of +25% horsepower!AUDI - saving Dad's from minivans since 1994

That is well cheap
Will be letting you know when I decide to put more horses in my S4
Thanks mate. As I said, atm not planning on having a remap, first want to sort the car out so it runs nicely on stock setup, then exhaust and FMIC....and then will get a remap
I had a look at parts needed to go Stage 2/3, most expensive parts are turbo and manifold, everything else isn't that bad.

Keep in mind that once you reach a certain power level, "engine parts" may not be all you need!
I've got no internal engine mods (AAN), but a K24-7400 turbo, Megasquirt, and a few other goodies. Once cold day recently when I hit about 22 PSI of boost, my (stock 3B) clutch started slipping...
Be alert! America needs more lerts.

I understand, I am not going to Stage 2, 3 and beyond. 300HP would be plenty enough, more than enough for my needs, been driving 150HP A100 and that was quick enoughKeep in mind that once you reach a certain power level, "engine parts" may not be all you need!

Nice remap from prj + exhaust system and I'll be sorted.

You keep talking "remap". Remap to me means live custom tuning, which is often necessary when going with a non-standard combo of turbo, injectors and exhaust manifold. From what you are currently planning, that is not necessary.
In your case, with the stock K24-7000 turbo and injectors, *ALL* you need is a Stage 1+ chip set with 3 Bar MAP sensor installed. Dmitri's offer to do everything for 200 Euros is a fantastic deal. Go for it.
As for FMIC, you won't need it. Waste of time and money until you jump up to RS2 levels, i.e. K24-7200 turbo or equivalent with RS2 exhaust manifold (or better) and larger injectors. If you stay with Audi parts to do that, you don't shouldn't need a custom map for that either. There are lots of off the shelf chip sets for that hardware combo.
You will not get above 280 hp without a larger turbo and injectors so don't dream about 300 hp because you add an exhaust system to Stage 1+. The stock UrS exhaust is not restrictive until you approach 400 hp.RS2'd 93 UrS4 5 spd sedan

I know FMIC won't make any difference in power, but only reason I am looking at installing one is because I want bumper mounted fog lights, so if I mount those, OE SMIC won't get enough air
And exhaust, I need one anyways, as mine is all rusty and it's been patched already.'93 Audi 100 Avant - R.I.P

Hmm... you get so much fog that the OE UrS4 three-way (high, low/dipped, fog) headlights don't work for you? Those are going to be very expensive fogs if you are going to install a FMIC just to be able to run C4 100 fogs in the bumper corners. BTW, how are you going to handle the oil cooler which is behind the right corner bumper opening if you put a fog light there?RS2'd 93 UrS4 5 spd sedan
