      Hahahaha Ross... Brilliant

John, a collapsed cat basicly from my experience chokes the car and it loses severe power. The tail pipe will spit hot burning particles from it and you will get a kind of airy sound to the exhaust too.... speaking from when my girlfriends old fiesta many years ago decided to have its cat collapse enroute to Cornwal.... man that made a small car even worse to drive with speeds being severely limited.

when this thread was new and nobody answered that is what i wanted to post, a flat cat. haha.

when mine broke a big chunk off and turned itself sideways, it really killed the power.... definitely noticeable. sluggish, and like he said, hot particles. the cat body itself was GLOWING BRIGHT ORANGE after a short run, also. and this on a MK2 8 valve Jetta, no big power car either. i was in the middle of a fast S-corner that i try to push every time i go thru it, and it fell on its face midway thru and almost wiped me out. when the tail end gets loose on the FWD cars, i just give it some more throttle and it pulls thru. not this time, i almost ate a tree and a curb.
