    Mystery vibration?

check your engine mounts!! did mine tonight with the expert help of my pal, david (he did most of it - i held the torch and bought the mars bars) the turbo side mount was completely ******ed and had collapsed in on itself. the hardest bit of the job was getting access to the top of the mount to remove the 17mm nut from the mount shaft - it had clearly become welded together over the years of frying by the turbo. an air powered drill worked a treat and bore through the seized nut with some ease. it was swarf central afterwards and we made sure that all the filings were cleared away before fitting the new mount.

anyway, on the plus side, the car is vibration free at long last and it's nice and clean down there under the air filter housing too!

It's a small world indeed. I fall into the latter category.

I found out about them purely by chance when my car was sent there to get a catalytic convertor replaced.

I can't remember the guys name now, he specialised in engine management diagnostics, he did all the work that the dealers couldn't fix. He also happened to be David and Stephen's accountant. Now I remember, his name was Dougie, he had a industrial unit in Springburn. This is going back about 12 years ago mind.

              Really friendly and helpful guys.

yup, a small world indeed and worth their weight in gold. too bad that the regular working day revolves around boring, box standard cars and as david said, "i like to work on something interesting now and again!" even if it means he can only do it after hours!

                top lads.
