Mine is leaking from the top plastic where it meets the core. Core looks to be in decent condition. Recently had it out to replace coolant pipes so maybe i damaged it putting it back in. (i was careful though, so i find this an unlikely cause)

Its only a small leak when it gets hot. Is Behr still the recommended replacement part or is it worthwhile to an all alloy upgrade?

Photo taken when cold but you can see the coolant marks.
    Hi Mike,
Has this been weeping for a while? I'm sure I mentioned that i had to top coolant up (maybe twice) myself, not that engine was running hot, but that heater was blowing cold (heater matrix higher than engine rad, from memory). I put it down to natural wastage, as it would hold level for over a Year, but maybe you've found it, what with radiator, and thermostat housing.

Hopefully no more leaks, and time to go hunting scoobies and evos

      Hi Tony,

I think when you had it, it was just a small leak from the hose i changed or like you say natural loss over long periods.

I'm almost certain this is a new leak. After changing this hose which failed everything seemed perfect, then i noticed a small leak from rad a week or 2 later.

I'm just keeping an eye on levels. Heater still works perfect and temperatures are fine. Hoping to get the new rad in this weekend and be completely leak free.

When i came to fit my new rad, i hadn't thought about the rubber mounts. Big Mole Grips are what is needed and both the big bottom mount (photo below) and smaller side mount came off easy enough.

I'd rather have changed for new, but they are on back order at Audi UK so its anyones guess when/if i'd get them.

Anyway all seems well with the cooling now
