    Turbo blankets. Yay or nay?

Any first hand/ testing / data with these?

Seems that Import tuner mag had some good results, but they might be biased...

They used to be up to $200+ a few years ago, but I see that they can be ordered on Ebay (from China) for less than £20 including shipping.

This is what I'm talking about:

They work well! beware that they can become moisture traps so will need checking

These are £17 delivered, believe it or not (below the critical £20 limit in this country (Norway) so no duty, etc), but the picture and sizing info is very confusing, so I have emailed the seller.

I didn't fit any nonsense to the turbo as that is a very expensive part..I will however be ceramic coating the new downpipe and THEN will be heatwrapping it. This should not cause any issues

Heatwrapping of the downpipe can cause problems with cracking, corrosion, etc. In addition, the wrapping can absorb oil form a leak and be a fire hazard (google GazzaG60's notes on the topic)

They are actually even less on aliexpress. £11 including shipping. I have no idea how that is possible, but I've gotten plenty of perfectly OK stuff basically free of charge off Ebay, etc. so not that surprised.
Need to check if my KKK #8 hotside requires a T3 or T4 sized cover, and if I want black or silver.
                Black will be more stealthy.

Never thought about it that way, still unsure if I will wrap the downpipe but am definitely ceramic coating it, that's already a step in the right direction, thanks for the advice

Ended up with this one from Ali Express:

That is $11.20 or £6.50. Impressive.
£13.20 including shipping to my doorstep.

Appears to be the same exact type that the local parts store selles for £55 (and even that is cheap compared to what these things used to cost).
I checked that one out last night and they seem well made.

Have ordered and sold tons of stuff on Ebay, but this is the first time from AliExpress. We'll see how it goes.
Ebay is safer (buyer protection is 100%), but fun to test Aliexpress for once.

Wow, these are cheap. Looks exactly the same as I have on mine, did cost something like 40 euros shipped back when I bought it from ebay.

My thinking against these is that it will increase exhaust temps. So instead I used heat reflective material around sensitive engine parts

I think it will only increase exhaust temps in the exhaust right? Not in the engine or am i wrong?

Yep, in the exhaust, where you want to keep that heat/energy.
