PS Fluid Q.

Evening all.

I ordered a few bits from the main dealer this week along with two 1ltr bottles of OE PS fluid. The issue I have is that I specifically ordered G 002 000 fluid and what they have supplied is G 004 000 fluid. My Mrs picked the bits up for me so I didn't know they had supplied the wrong fluid until I got home after work but what I need to know, before I question them tomorrow, is have they made a mistake or are main dealers supplying G 004 000 as a superseded version of G 002 000 now?

As far as I'm aware g00 2000 has been superceded. Similar story to the old G12 coolant

Yep G 004 000 is the correct fluid, as you stated it superseded the G 002 000

Interesting. I would have thought they would have told me that when I placed the order and I remember the guy saying they had G 002 000 in stock? So to put my mind at ease we're saying it's exactly the same fluid only renamed? I've had issues with my PS pump recently and the last thing I wanted to do when I fit my new pump is put the wrong mineral oil in.

Ive run g004000 in my dodgey PAS pump for a while now and it hasnt got any worse. I cant imagine there would be much difference in them again similar to the coolant.

Yep, G002 has been superceded by G004, been like that for a couple of years at least.

I'm still trying to work out why my ps pumps keep failing... My latest theory is that I've got a knackered accumulator so I'm about to spend out on a new one... Hope I'm right.

I know this feeling well, still chasing my leak and now its using a res full every 2 weeks!

Blimey! At least with my issue I could see the fluid seeping from the pump seals.

I wish I could find my leak that easily, unfortunately for me I use the car so little that every time I clean everything, by the time I check again everything has a slight misting again. The majority of the leak if from the res, but a lot of the hoses I think May have gone porous and the pump is weeping and noisy and the accumulator is damp so time for a complete overhaul while it's still off the road. Just hope it's all sorted for ADI.

Check out the T piece in the return line, mine was badly made from new, I replaced everything and still had the leak, 10 mins with a file to make the T piece round sorted it
