Not a scooby yet as it has no ECU

But I expect it to work fine.

You want to prove that there is no difference between J K H very much don't you?

ABY one has the connector aligned with the short leg

It seems that you didn't read the link I provided very thoroughly. Try again:

Your issue is one or more of these:

    1. The ECU's internal MAP sensor is not connected to the intake manifold and therefore has no clue about what is happening with the boost, so, by default it is NOT controlling the N75.

    2. The MAP sensor is dead

    3. The N75 is dead or the wiring to it or the hoses to it have a problem

    4. The ECU has a significant fault and is unable to control the N75.

IF you have 100% checked out possibility No. 1, e.g. by using a vacuum/boost pump between the hose at the intake manifold and the connection to the brass pipe going into the ECU (and/or the hose between the brass pipe and the MAP sensor), then your issue is possibility No. 3. You have been pointed to the techniques to check out the function of the N75.

Well, i couldn't find H valve anywhere, so i bought J one off ebay (genuine stuff). Will report back if that fixes the problem, cos sorting out loose-ish hoses didn't help... Unfortunately, as that would've been cheap fix.

    *ding ding* round three !!

if my car was worth it, i might think about spending the £125+vat on the H model!! for now and £20 the J will do quite nicely, thank you!!

I can't tell you the physical differences, e.g. spring strength, solenoid windings, etc. but I can point you (again) to the same article you are pointing to that found that 283H was better (for their tests) than either the 3B's 283J or the ABY/ADU's 283K.

check this piece here and in particular the graphs for the J and H models - it means little to me but the H one goes higher up the charts by a smidgen - perhaps you can make more of it than i can. all i care about is that my car showed 2.2 bar on the gauge today and goes like lightning - that'll do me nicely
