RS2 MTM -
I know the oil i put inside was not the best of grades/quality.
It was just a trial/temp basis to flush out the system as i don't believe in engine flush oil additives. and i didn't want to risk burning off my liquid gold ( castrol rs 10-60w). Should i just bite the bullet and change the oil with the good stuff.
PS: IT ONLY SMOKES WHEN ENGINE IS HOT AND AFTER IDLING IN TRAFFIC.

Sounds like turbo seals if it only does it when hot and after idling for a while - I got mine rebuilt at AET to fix it.S2,RS2,S4 WB,RS4,S4 B8,RS6 C5,RS6 C6,R8Comment

they might be, depends how you are with them. If you just camly explain the story then they may well offer to inspect the turbo for free and maybe repair for free. How many miles mas it done??sigpic

Got no smoke when my cats were removed. 160k mile old k24 which has been spanked. I use Millers CFS 10W60. My car would see the rev limiter several times a day, do 120+ daily and 150+ a few times a month...guess you could say I used my S2!
Hot oil pressure was no less than 2bar and I never let the turbo cool down much before shutting off...I was trying to kill my turbo to justify a new one!1995 S2 Avant with some upgrades

Sorted.
Spoke to Grant( Bossman) at AET. Found out that apparently oil seal on turbo
hot side is metal not rubber
. He was very helpful ( i have used them on
3 separate occasions) and adviced me on a few checks. All this time, it was
infront of my eyes. I flushed the engine oil 3 times, with no additives using cheapish oil, to make sure all carbon and debris was removed. New OEM oil
filter and liquid gold, Castrol rs 10-60w.
Now she runs SSWWWEEEEEETT
Smoke problem cured. Engine loves it.
FRom now on only use 10-60w, 10-50w, 15-50w, not xx-40w stuff, especially
without cats. All grades of Mobil 1 tend to be thinner than other brands.
Will be changing my oil every 3000 miles, so thats annually .
Will be trying FUchs Silkoline or Millers next

The smoke you were seeing, was it there all the time ?
I have an intermittent problem where by I get puffs of blue smoke (oil) on gear change. Not all the time just sometimes doesn't matter if car is being driven hard or gently.
