    Meyle MFTS fault

OK we all know the Meyle MFTS units read a bit high on the temp gauge, but I have another fault with mine (brand new but bought a couple years ago so can't even return it)

It sets off the autocheck over temp alarm continuously. Anyone else had this?
Looks like I need to buy another one, will get a Behr this time, another £50
Should have spent the £100 for a dealer item first time round

    MEYLE MFTS is a P.O.S. !

I found the Behr one wasn't trouble free either.

Fine at idle or town driving but would drop to ~60 degrees at motorway speeds.

I'm currently running a JP Group sender, part number 919064001 which has been perfect.

Got it from Ebay Germany for <20 Euros

Meyle electrical parts are quite bad. I had a problem with a brand new temp. sender on my coupe type 85.

The flashing overtemp alarm can sometimes be cured with a sharp blow with a socket extension bar or similar blunt object.

Yup, I had a brand new one, water gauge was perfect, set off autocheck and killed boost as soon as it hit operating temperature.

C*&t! Don't they ****ing test this stuff? The new Meyle expansion tank I have is ***** too, its has swollen up like a tomato now its been head cycled a few times, wouldn't be surprised if it cracks soon, so I'm going to have to shell out for a new OEM one, if you can still get them.
My opinion of Meyle has dropped a long way in my estimation this week.

I ended up driving about for ages with the MFTS unplugged just so the car would boost, need faith in the cooling system for that tough!

Maybe I will just stick with my scabby old expansion tank, it might look like **** but it works!

Oh yeah forgot I sold you that spare 3B one! Looks like me and Meyle ****ed you in the *** too
As with most parts though, the 3B item is probably better quality so maybe it will be ok.

Although you bought the items long ago it might still be worth it to contact Meyle directly? Not that I did that with my new failing sensor

The expansion tank on my cabriolet looked new but was swollen as well, wonder if that would have been a Meyle then...

I bought a new Febi Header tank, no complaints at all very good quality. Also I got the MFTS from Pete and Quattro corner for £45 and its a Behr one. My previous Behr one had started setting the Auto Check off on occasion but it had been on some time looking at it.

Is this the MFTS that MikeS2 and Error404 are talking about?
