Does a decent quality 'pnp' wiring loom exist for such a conversion ?
I might be interested to make such a thing available in small numbers but no point if an off the shelf item exist already.
I thought there was a group buy for these harnesses on your side of the pond a while back. Not too difficult to build your own following Dave's how-to: http://www.audiworld.com/forums/audi.../#post18806168.
Marc Swanson has parts to build this harness & can also supply said harness.
Hello!
With this harness you can use TFSI coils without destroy your wiring loom.
High temp insulated coated glass sleevings, 100% Plug and play. The price is 160$ with postage to worldwide. Ship start 2 workingday.
V6 kit is commig soon.
Quality does look nice... seems a fair price... I could make one considerably cheaper as I know the connector types, pins, boots etc and have a JPT crimper etc... but for zero effort PnP, that is actually going to be attractive for most folk I would imagine - especially if all the cable lengths are nice and its as robust as it looks in the pics.
So I took out all of the old coils and wiring and I'm fairly certain that my kough was caused by further degredation of the wiring and not by a coilpack failure - these suckers are tough - 176k miles and counting.
The wiring at the point where it all exits the coil over was cracked and showing bare metal, so that will not have been good. It's a shame that the wiring isn't up to the task really.
Anyway, a good oportunity to clean the area up and give a few things a lick of paint to neaten them up too.

Not so much 'kough zyrop' - more wire brush and bottle of dettol then - nice cheap fix if that turns out to be root cause - bare metal exposure there can only be bad.
