I've already rebuilt the wiring once, so I've gone TFSI.

Coils and loom fitted. Test drive done. Need to check it over and reset the ECU but it ran just fine on boost, if a little hesitant when coming on boost from low revs. I did move the coils around a bit and it was running on 4 but got it back on 5.

Will get on it tomorrow, when it's light(!) and finish it off / check it over.

ECU is unplugged overnight to reset, as I've fitted a new Lambda, TFSI coils and done a bit of work here and there...

Yes, rebuilt the top of the down and WG pipes before ADI, which is when I think I tweaked the coil wiring... That then knackered the coils and the lambda was damaged when I took it out the exhaust!

Running secondhand coils until I can sort the dwell time out. £50 for 8 in top condition No rush on that.

Need to get some decent fuel in there tomorrow and check it all over before fitting the coil cover with spacers.

Cold start and part throttle are a little lumpy, is this to be expected on coils with an incorrect dwell time?

My car seems fine and smooth with these coils... cold or warm etc. Its homefried and not had dwell time changed.... Dont know if that helps you at all bud, just my experience of using them is all.

@Rusty - what coils did you end up with (for now) ?

It's very feint and I can just feel it hunting a fraction on very light throttle. Maybe just different rather than anything actually the matter - I am a car hypochondriac after all. Just a bit more throttle and it feels normal + it flies on WOT like it should. No codes but I have done some logs on lambda, as I've got a secondhand one in there that Danny was kind enough to send me

Paul, I've got the 07K 905 715 F coils in there, although they're 'new' off eBay, as I don't want to kill as set @ £180 new

They should actually need less dwell than OE items to create a suitable spark... Unless the coils are actually straining at the higher current pulsing thru them. Bit weird as you'd think any potential issues would show up at WOT. Strange alright. Maybe one coil is borderline unhealthy but they won't last forever at double the duty cycle required ! I need to get some bench tests done on this area.

Actually - maybe the map you have is super aggressive on timing and you are just getting knock related retardation at some part throttle load points. You should try an OE RS2 chipset for comparison.

I have some RS2 chips in Russ's car, so may be able to swap ECUs.

I've moved the wiring away from the other coils, on case that had anything to do with it but I very much doubt it does.

There are cold start issues with the wrong dwell below -20*c, so should not be that, unless you have been on a secret road trip

                            Rusty, talk about clones....

I have pretty much all the same symptoms you have on a very similar setup.

Borrowed a loom and 1.8t coil packs just to get on the road and mine is a bit hesitant at times too. I'm after an rs2 fpr to complete my setup, may try a different lambda too at some point with the fault codes I have

I'll try some stock chips and see if that cures it.
