3b timing belt diamond washer or no diamond washer?

I have just found my car hasn't got a diamond washer fitted between the belt toothed pulley and the vibration damper. Should it have?
also I fitted a billet pulley. My god it's a tight fit on the crank nose. Is that right? Anyone else experienced this?

I'm hoping that is just for the ABY as I do not recall my mechanic saying anything about that when mine was done earlier in the year. If it is the case, it needs to go back. Will be paying attention to this thread.

AFAIK it's an ABY only thing, I've certainly never fitted one to my 3B.

There is a really skinny one fitted to all t4 5 cylinders. I never really saw the need but.

I was just going to say the same, I have one on my A6, never found the part number as it came with the new vibration damper.

No diamond washer is fitted to the 3B engine.

I also found my billet pulley to be a very tight fit on the crank nose, I de-burred the back edge of/and centre of it with a fine file and some emery cloth and it's now a perfect fit. I'd rather have to do that than it be loose.

As per Kits post I had to chamfer the edge of the centre bore on my billet pulley to make it perfect.
Then again I am a serial part massager

AAN vibration damper and diamond washer info

The 034105193 diamond washer was only used with the AAN, ABY and ADU. With the AAN it is associated with the 054105251J vibration damper.

I have a spare ( think I got 2 with the damper ) and meant to fit it to my engine when I re-built it and forgot

It's definatley going on next time I have the cambelt off.

For the record the TDI one is 34mmX19mmX0.13mm. Febi 31815 for X-reference.
