Did you order the oil switches from Audi or is there a cheaper source for the same switch?

Oil Pressure Sender, Switches, Wiring and Check Valve Info
Based on the amount of work to change this small switch on a 3B, ABY or ADU with the radiator in the way, I would strongly suggest forgetting about going cheap on this and just go OE. Here is some US pricing for a new 056919081E:

That price seems fine. It must be the other one im thinking about. I seem to remember it being silly money from Audi.1995 Audi S2 AvantComment

Thanks for the further comments. I will be careful on what hoses I go for.
I have ordered a Meyle pressure switch:

Hopefully it will last a good few years.Comment

Dude: You are NOT listening. Don't cheap out. Get an OE switch from a dealer or through Pete at Quattrocorner. The Meyle probably will not last a year and you will be back in there again.
But hey, it's your time and money.
(You're just not using them very wisely at this point)

Wow, quite a way with words.
I had ordered a new switch before you posted about buying genuine.
Appreciate your considerate comments though.

Maybe you should have asked about the Meyle first.
Meyle does not have a good reputation anymore. Saving 5 GBP compared to OE/dealer against 200 GBP (effective) in labour to redo the job in a year is false economy.
That's all I'm saying.

He's right.
Dave may not be patient or impart it softly, but he does tell it like it is.
None of us are perfect.
I lost an engine to this stupid switch. Do the switch and the two pipes while you're in there.
We're trying to help you. That's what this forum is about.
Kind regards.

Sure thing. I do get it, and note what your saying.
Thanks for your help with my post, I am listening - but ordered the switch quickly so I can hopefully get the car back on the road. Will have to wait and see what sort of quality the switch is. Thankfully I can work for free on my motor.

Just been speaking with Roose Motorsport about the coolant hoses mentioned in this thread. They said ideally they would need the internal diameter of the hoses.
Can any help with these dimensions?
I am talking about the coolant pipe that comes off the side of the thermostat housing that is about 95mm long.
The other one is the turbo return to water manifold, which is about 88mm long.
I dont have the internal diameters as I haven't taken the old ones off of the car as yet, but hoped to place an order today if possible.Comment

Cheap and / or inferior quality products tend to look ok when they are brand new, but when they are fitted and fails it's too late to change your mind.
With this switch and the two water pipes being annoyingly hard to access, it is always a good idea to 'measure twice and cut once' so to speak.
PITA to have to re do it a second time, not to mention being stranded, and the additional costs second time aound.
Lecture over - from an opinionated old duffer whose BTDT.
Best wishes.

Thanks.
I did get the thermostat housing hose off in the end, then ran out of time. I will get in touch with Roose.
Quick question, do you need different types of clamps for silicone hoses, or are standard jubilee clips up to the job?Comment
