Removing valve cover - Anything I need to change/be aware off?

So I'm removing the valve cover to do some machining on it and get it powder coated black.

Is there anything I should be aware of or change after removing it?

I have new gasket, but nothing else?

Yeh, note the item 15 and 16 bolt locations (the are different lengths) and remember to remove the Item 19 bolts too. Some people use a bit of silicon sealant on the half moons to prevent them from moving during install.

Remove / replace the splash guard under the filler cap - they get very brittle and fracture, sending bits of plastic into your oilways.

I assume that is nr 21 in the etka diagram?

        Should I renew the bolts?

          Splash guard is Item 21.

Bolts are fine. Very little torque involved: Cam cover 10 Nm (7 lb ft)

Well I'm getting at least one new bolt since one was not present

But that is what to be expected from the previous owner.

No stainless steel bolts for me.
