    that's what I think.

turbo, manifold, injectors and a map. for 90hp. 25% power increase ish.
rs2 parts hold a premium cost too.

I made that power at about 1.2bar on a stock engine on my setup. of turbo, manifold, injectors and a map. not as torquey as on the limit rs2 though as my turbo was just idling more or less.

itxs the fact it takes a fair bit more power to make much real difference especially against lightweight modern cars.

    it is all opinion however.

There is a lot to be said for the bolt-on / plug in nature of an RS2 setup. For your 2k budget that's the route I would take, as you don't need the hassle and expense of mapping, just get a decent generic tune of which there are a few about.
Agree with Gaz though on an otherwise stock car if you spend £2k on another 100hp, you need to spend about the same on the chassis to make it safe to use.
The S2 isn't really that heavy compared to modern cars, for example Focus RS is a shade under 1500Kg, and its not even lugging the 4WD around. Light years ahead dynamically of course.

Its not just the 90hp more it's so much more torque.

Having gone from stock, to homefried, to tuned RS2 set up, I can
assure anyone who thinks its just 25% more is very wrong, feels more like 40%
        more in the real world.

no surprise there. a well placed add mate

its good to see a fresh modder in the forum. reminds me of the good ole days.

to those doing it I have to say with honesty I don't think they get any more unreliable or with a proper tune any more fuel hungry unless its foot down.

What an overwhelming response! So much information here already, I did forget to mention im running Porsche front calipers with 323mm disks.

The RS2 set up has been offered a month too early!, if that Rs2 setup is still available on the 24th of January, ill send the funds that day!

Seriously guys, without this forums help I dobt id still have the S2.

It's not offered yet, its a maybe at the moment and
I'm not going to be taking it off the car for a while, not touching it until winter is over.

And the billet rs2 modified turbo must make more torque than the standart one? Any one knows some figures?

                          get a bigger turbo!

it aint gonna be worth the difference in value. I can understand just rs2 at that cost as jo posted but whats the point in trying to fancy up a 20 year old plus design and pay a fortune for another 20hp and a few hundred rpm of spool at most.

at 2bar I couldn't read the gauges the pin in the seat was so great. that's a sub 600 gbp turbo.....with some lag of course. nothing that a change of gear cant sort out.

You have to watch to have not more than 500Nm in the lower revs 3000-4000 rpm. It is good to have flat Nm curve rather than diesel like spike and lower Nm on 5000-7000 rpm. Spike can kill your stock rods.
That's worrying as I have stock rods and just had a remap to 530 Nm,and the torque curve isn't so much a curve as a wall. Not wanting to high jack the thread but can the rods be changed without removing the head, (the answer may be of use to the thread author too).

Edit: A quick search has revealed the answer to be no.

you can probably do also 550Nm to. It all depends on revs. But if going form the low revs and if you want to be absolutely sure I would say 500Nm is the limit.

I'm using the car on the race track with 20 minute race sessions with pedal to the metal most of the time. If you use the car on the road and do lights to lights racing than the rods will probably handle more.
