In the past year alone I must have changed this little ******* about 3-4 times. The last one I changed just this evening after spending a whole evening last night changing out the thermostat and bleeding the system because it was suddenly getting very hot very quickly.
It was worth doing and removing the pas pump because the one small pipe i had not replace was fooked
After chucking the old thermostat into a pan of water and bringing to the boil it opened up bang on cue.So then onto bleeding the cooling system which i did very thoroughly.Still the temp gauge was all over the place, and this was with a brand new behr one which seem to give alot better readings than the rubbish meyle ones.
So chucked in a new one and hey blooming presto-perfect temps
So the question is whats going on?The last 2 or 3 I changed because the boost went dead but this one was a batch of 3 new ones I bought.
This was only 3-4 months old if that, and i will be sending it back for a replacement
Is it that they are all really badly made nowadays?.It is quite worrying when you see your gauge doing things it is not supposed too.
Or can something on the car cause them to fail early, which tbh i doubt

After pulling the connector off and checking the wiring (no mean feat in itself) I managed to fix it by the banging with a hammer and socket extension trick. If I didn't know this trick I'd be buying another new one too.
