    C4 AAN External Oil Lines

I decided to consolidate the info that I had previously posted about the external AAN oil lines in one spot for future reference. While written for the AAN, most of the PNs should translate to ABY and ADU.

The external oil lines on an AAN all relate to the oil filter bracket on the exhaust side of the engine. From this bracket, there are oil feed lines going to the turbo and to the oil cooler. The oil cooler return line comes back to the filter bracket and the turbo oil return line goes back to the oil sump (pan).

This is what it all looks like:

Base photo courtesy of Tom S. (RS2 America fame).

Now to break it down, piece by piece:

So first the oil filter bracket:

Now the oil cooler and its hoses, Items 1, 2 and 3:

Now the turbo oil feed and return lines, Items 18 and 12, respectively:

    Thank you Dave.

All these links are great for now and into the future as less and less people remain involved with these cars as they get older and older, (the cars and the people).

Thanks. My goal has always been to have the answer to the questions that have not been asked already in place, before they are asked.

        Hi Dave,

On the last picture the oil dipstick is on the exhaust side of the engine, I ve got 2 AAN here and both have it on the intake side, why is that?

        Thanks for your work!

        cheers

It looks like someone just stuck it through a random hole so it would not get lost... that's definitely not its proper location.
Be alert! America needs more lerts.

As elaw suggested, someone (me, that is my spare AAN), removed it from the correct (intake) side (which is up against the wall) for some reason (I forget why) and was too lazy to stick it back in the correct side.

            Good eye.
