It can't work for both correctly. All this gibberish is from people who have no idea how it works and what is inside.
Most likely it's just some random sw with all boost and fuel cut limitations turned off.
Then you're just relying on knock control to keep your engine from blowing up.
That's also most likely why this guy here "recommends a MLS gasket" - because when you're knocking all the time, the paper gasket lets go rather quickly
A tune is always done for one set of hardware. If you see someone talking, that "ah you can change spring, you can do this, maybe you can do that" you can be 100% sure that:
1) this person has NO idea about tuning.
2) this person stole this tune from someone and is selling it.
3) this person has no idea what he is selling.
Simple as that…
In this country most of this practice on 2.2T was eradicated about 5 years ago. But it runs strong in many other places still.
On a 200kpa sensor the max boost you can run is about 0.8 bar. This is because if you want to retain the boost cut functionality for an emergency, you can set it at 0.99 bar.
On a 250kpa sensor, the peak should be not more than 1.3 bar for the same reason.
300 kpa sensor, yup, 1.8.
Otherwise there is no safety.
Also, each normal tune has a sane load cut limit set. That means if you ever tried to run a tune meant for a 200kpa sensor on a 250kpa sensor, the boost would go 20% higher, the load would go out of bounds and a fuel cut would be initiated.
All these safeguards are there to protect the engine in case there is some sort of problem with the hardware. Run a tune with them disabled, and if something happens to your wastegate, boost control, etc it is very easy to just melt the engine.
Yet this is exactly the software certain cowboys will sell you, along with wastegate springs and what not.
