    stroker with 92,8 crank.

    Hello,

i got an oportunity to get a strocker crank for my rebuild. the problem is i do not know if in need custom pistons or rods?
i got all the parts here already for a normal crank and its like last minute decision.

From previous read ups i gathered if your going stroker u need slightly longer rods amd diesel block different pistons which i think need machining underneath not too sure it was a while ago i read about it ... people go 2.5 bore 100mm rods diesel block and stroker crank im sure someone will clarify us both ..
Expensive job good look on the build

It's for the stock block and not diesel one

Are you talking about the 7A 20v engine ? If so....

        Read this...http://www.20v-sauger-tuning.de/

... if you use 92.8mm crank in standard 7a block , you will need to use VW 6A/ACE pistons ( 4 cyl 16v VW engine ) 144mm rods no problem .

Where did you get the 92.8 mm crank ? How much ? If you decide not to bother, maybe you want to sell the crank ?

Short block height is 220mm, stock piston CH is 32.8mm, stock rod 144mm, and crank 86.4mm.

So if you calculate the need of piston height with 92.8mm crank. 92.8/2=46.4+144+32.8=223.2mm, so you would need to use 29.6mm CH pistons or 140.8mm rod. Short rods are bad on a stroker so I would go with custom pistons.

You need to think about the squish area clearance. Head gasket thickness compressed is 1.65mm, so maybe you could go 30.2-30.4mm CH pistons to get ~0.8-1mm squish.

It depends of your power target, more than 550+Nm and you need to go H-beam rods to be safe. Stroker has even more torque down low, so more dangerous. I don't see any idea with a stroker with stock rods..?

I was taking about the length of the rods. I have I beam riffle drilled ones so I think I will be safe on that one. Don't want to save money on wrong place

If this is the case, surely we could use the crank from the new 2.5 tfsi and bore to 82.5mm and it will give 2480cc & very good increase in torque without sacrificing revability while maintaining good rod ratio? Anyone run this setup? Would be interesting to see

For my 92.8 stroker, I used 82.5mm pistons and 160mm rods.

                          Hope this helps.

Yes, but that is for the tall block.
