Having picked up the best example of an RS2 I could find for the money I've been going through various maintenance job's on the car. The old girl was stood for a couple of years so I've been bringing her back to life with the utmost care. I MOT'd her last week with no advisories and the car is in excellent overall condition apart from the exhaust system which is on it's last legs and some minor paint issues. It is exceptionally straight and original other than being lowered and there was some mention of maybe MTM chips.
It had fresh oil just before being laid up so I figured it would make sense to do a few miles then drop it out before refilling with Fuch Pro S 10W50, essentially using the stuff in there as a flush. I also added a cleaning agent to the coolant and am going to drop that today then flush the system through thoroughly before refilling with fresh VAG Orange juice.
Anyway, I popped the airbox off yesterday to conduct a leak test and got a surprise.

The car went to GTi engineering on 08/07/1996 having covered 10K miles and again on the 25/08/1998. I have a stamps from them in my service book along with a FSH from Audi up until 2007, the car has covered very few miles since then and appears to have been moth balled, though it has receipts for oil changes and a cambelt ect up until 2011 when the car was taken off the road and dry stored.
The conversion is carried out to a very high standard, until I got the airbox off there was little to give away that anything had been done. But now I've got it apart I can see they had to use a 3B MAF to turbo hose and modify the solid oil breather pipe to get it to clear the oil and water lines which have also been tweeked slightly.
The turbo is in excellent condition, she flew through the MOT emission's test and has no fault codes stored after driving a couple of hundred miles.
I'm not sure whether to leave the conversion in place or put it on my Coupe and revert the RS2 to stock using the nearly new RS2 turbo I have fitted to my 3B along with some stock RS2 chips. I have a spare ABY ECU that I was going to upgrade to RS2 spec and use on my Coupe in future when I convert to coils so I could then use the software currently in my RS2 ECU.
Edit. The cold side has 5327 10150 65 on it in case you can't make it out in the pic.

? GTI engineering used to do well regarded conversions with the consent of VAG UK for customers back in the late 1980's and had an excellent reputation. Sadly Brian Rickets and Richard Lloyd have both passed away so there's no chance of contacting either of them for details, coincidently Brian Rickets did the Nothelle conversion on my Coupe back in 1990.
