Incorrectly torqued harmonic damper/broken keyway..only just very recently disturbed- should be .450nm...check how tight yours is.

Wouldn't my timing marks be off in that case?
Is the harmonic damper rubber? Can it have too much play? So when under load makes the timing go off?

Still new with those cars and Audi's... Please bear with me

      Thanks

If it is loose, then, it can/will move laterally, just enough to throw your timing out and that may explain why it will idle ok...worth a look...please inform us of the actual torque setting.
